Great lesson Brian!
Love this lesson …Thanks Brian
Brian thumbs up!
It is a cool exercise again.
I am looking forward to it.
Greetings from North Germany
Wilfried
Great groove. Love it. Can’t wait to dig in.
Nice one, very Pink Floyd-ish
cant wait to learn this very laid back and relaxing.
Flamejob - I heard Pink Floyd in this too. That’s why I love all of these lessons. It’s not just a single song or groove that you’re learning, but something that can be used and applied to other songs - keep them coming Brian!
Another great lesson Brian,,,when I first watched it I thought this seemed a little too easy, but the more I play it the more hypnotic it gets..I love it..its so laid back and relaxed…with a great groove..
And I hope you don’t mind me saying but i love the backing track without the guitar part to use for soloing over..as well as practicing the lesson..
Great! I really like these kind of grooves. thanks Brian………..
Yup me too looking forward to this one
Finally, a lesson I can sink my scrawny teeth into. This is right down my slow blues alley. I LOVE this one!!! Part one accomplished—on to the next phase. I could play this all night long. Thanks Brian, You Rock!
Great!! Thankee!
This melody of the exercise is very harmonious.
Super is that here again basics are taught to be well connected with other exercises.
I’m happy to be landed here!
This sounds just great, Brian.
And it is easy to play the way you teach it!
Tony
Very Pink Floyd. Sounded beautiful with my UniVibe pedal. Dorian mode fits well over this for noodling around.
I’m hearing Pink Floyd ?
I loved this one. Really enjoyed the application of partial chords. Any chance of developing something like this in a modal progresion ie Dorian or Lydian. Thanks for these great lessons, always a great source of inspiration
awesome lesoon -one down -86 to go
Love this lesson and the song. Maybe a member follow up with alternative endings, and additional lead and rhythm breaks. Thank you
Question, please. I think I noticed there were times you called out, for example, “fourth position” but were playing in the area of the neck for the first position. Does this mean you can play any of the chord position scales in the first position location?
These rhythm and lead fills videos have been great. I’ve enjoyed them a lot and am learning from them constantly. Thanks Brian!
So I was messing around with the backing to this and found A minor pentatonic was sounding good with this.
I’m a newbie and wondering why as this is in the key of D min?
Lastly, how do you know what pattern to start with? I’ve learned the minor pentatonic scale positions (1-5), but having a hard time with figuring this part out. I’m assuming cause pattern one starts on 10th fret……but when that happens, do you just work backwards to pattern 5, then 4, etc.
hope I’m understandable. New at this but loving it.
Scott
So I was thinking about my above question……why does A min pentatonic sound good with this backing?
Is it because A would be the five of the 1,4,5?
Sorry if not making sense. Just trying to wrap my head round this stuff.
Thanks
Scott
Real sweet, love this slow groove. Really fine lesson. Dave
Brian, I just want to say that I love your lessons. For years I’ve been trying to play more than just chords, and because of you I’m able to play these cool grooves. Love the way you explane everything! Keep up the good work! I’m a huge fan..
Hi Pheartscott,
I am a relatively intermediate player but I want to stick my head out and say,,..the reason A min scale sounds good over the Dmin G progression could be because Dmin and A min are modes of each other….Possibly either A dorian or Aeolian is counterpart of D min…
Other musicians reading this…do pitch in!
Thanks to Brian for this excellent lesson.
Thanks Brian. I’m a relative newbie, and all thumbs, and this lesson is really challenging me re mixing rhythm and lead. Getting back to that D minor seventh on beat is a challenge. Well constructed, well explained lessons, I’ve just upgraded to the 12 month sub. Thanks again
Fab little lesson Brian, really enjoy your way of teaching.
Hi Brian
How come you can solo this jam in am and dm pentatonic and it seems to sound right in both keys?
Stumbled across this one on youtube and subbed just for this lesson alone. All the other great material is a bonus. But this one is getting my out of my 12 bar blues rut. Love it!
Is that you playing piano as well Brian? I’m attempting to learn piano chord style so I can do stuff like this.
Great stuff.
Scott
Great lesson. Thanks
Brian, Just keep finding more & more good lessons.I will never learn them all but having a ball trying. Keep up the good work Dave
Want type of pick do you recommend for this lesson (EP087) ?
One of the coolest lessons! I love it!
