Another great lesson. Thanks Brian.
I love funk riffs grooves that keep us moving…
Thanks Brian for this lesson!
I love Funk rhythm. This lesson reminds me of “Sissy Strut” by The Funky Meters. Excuse the English but being from New Orleans, ” I love me some Funk”! Thanks Brian
This is awesome. These types of lessons are why I joined two years ago.
Reminds me a lot of Jerry G in his hay day
Hot Dam!
Oh that’s fun!
Thanks Brian! This a nice break from EP437. I am still trying to memorize that lesson such an important lesson for me.
Yea me too. So much for me to learn and expand on in EP437. But this lesson will be a nice break from it.
Love this Brian!
That funky rhythm and muted notes are pure fun!!!! Sounds great.
Denise
Hi Brian, Video Tablature Breakdown is not working. It stops after the first Line. Could you check the soundslice upload please. Would be great to have it as the rhythm is quite a challenge and Video with Tab would be certainly helping me. Many thanks. Greetings from Germany. Alex
Hi Brain, just changed my setting on my iPad and now it is working. Cool stuff man – I love it. Many thanks for this nice piece of music. Cheers, Alex
Brian, in the part 1 video you say to start the rhythm on beat 2. In the slow playthrough and both tabs you start the rhythm on the & of 1, ie. on an upbeat. I couldn’t make the rhythm work until I noticed that, especially going into the rhythm the second time . Wonder if it is confusing others.
John
i guess i miscounted in the video. damn
I looked up the chord at 2:50 mark on the premium video. You are playing G B C so it’s actually a “G add 4.”
Interesting.. I tried it on acoustic with a pick up- sounds ok! Never thought of trying funk type music before, but there are some useful skills to learn here like the palm muting and sticking to the lower strings.
Great! Love it.
Thank you Brian.
Brian you are constantly expanding my musical journey.
I love it! Very Stratty. It wouldn’t be the same played on anything else would it?!
Great funk rhythm lesson Brian,
Thanks
Ray P
So cool. Can’t wait to start. Love the soft touch rhythm lessons.
I’m could play this all day long! The staccato/muted vibe is my go to bc it just feels good. Thanks for some great ideas to play around with.
Love the lesson Brian! The chord in bar 10 it a Cadd#11 and implies a Lydian sound – very nice! BTW: I’d love to see a lesson on the Lydian mode from you! If I’m not mistaken there is none in the lesson archive.
Super lesson again !
Cool cool cool 😎!!!
Looking forward to learning this! Nice to break out from the Blues now and then to expand our guitar vocabulary!
We are listening to a new radio station in the UK at the moment… Heart 70’s.. and they play a oot of this style 1970s funk and similar…
Superstition Stevie Wonder (which I am learning at the moment)
The brilliant “Long Train Running” by the Doobie Brothers
“Pick up the Pieces” by the Average White Band
Just listened to Cissy Strut by the Meters… brilliant..
And my personal favourite… Climax Blues Band.. “Couldn’t get it right”… (sounds like a description of my guitar practice, especially when pressing the red button!)

Wow, Brian. Wow !
Nothing like a little funk to keep you out of a funk, just saying, great lesson!

Great lesson, reminds me of Sand from Phish.
Ah! finally I played it in entirety today after working on it for 4 days consecutively. Thanks Brian.
Brian, Happy Thanksgiving. Thanks for all your hard work. Good lesson
Brian, Little early on the Thanksgiving but don’t have to worry about forgetting now. Hope you and family have a good one. Thanks again for your hard work for all !!!!!!
Amazing lesson. I saw it on Instagram and decided it’s time to join the site. Love all the different tools, tab, playable tab, mp3’s et al. Have to say that it’s so well taught as well.
Great lesson as always Brian
Fun lesson! I’m hearing Steve Lukather and Michael Landau style rhythm work here… so effective.
Bring on the funk! Did someone say that already? Very cool lesson and as Brian said, you’ll be surprised how quickly you can get up to speed on this thing. Please keep these coming.
Great funk with bluesy embellishments
Lots of key riffs in this lesson – leads to more creative ideas
Thanks Brian
Hey Brian! Happy New Year!! I’m getting ready to dive into this great lesson! Question: At 11:44 of your vid, you say that “it comes in on ‘two’ “. Your TAB says (and the sound of it says) it comes in “on the AND of one”. Which is it so I don’t start off wrong and have to relearn it. Is it a case of the first measure is in 5/4 time? I’m confused – LOL!!! Let me know please. Thanks, Bob
LOL – I just saw John’s post above. All good my friend! Bob
