Description
I wasn’t 100% sure what to title this lesson when I recorded it, but after I listened to the final recording I realized that there are 3 primary influences in this. Clapton, Gary Moore, and Stevie Ray Vaughan. I’m nowhere near any of those guys, but they certainly have influenced my playing through the years. You should always try to pick up things from other players and incorporate it into your own playing. My guitar tone in this lesson is a very heavy overdriven sound – something that you might hear a Cream era Clapton using. I’m playing through a Fulltone OCD pedal to get that sound. Also, there are 2 versions of the jam track (one normal tempo, and one slower) to make it easier to practice.

Hi The Tab for ep056 is not working any chance to reupload it?
Great tutorials
Brian says
Kevin, it worked for me. Try either clearing your browser cache and refreshing or try using a different browser.
Marco M says
Hi Kevin I have also problems but I can click Save link as … and save it on my desktop and open it frm there , and that works fine , hope it helps
tonewood says
Yes, another great one! Also, thanks for adding the chords the tab downloads, it helps me a lot.

Hey Brian… What a Sweeeeeeeeet Lesson!!! Thanks again!!
Nino Mateo says
Great lesson. Seems to me that you bend much less than I do to reach the note. What gauge strings do you use?
Brian says
@Nino - Those are Elixer 10 gauge strings.

Wanted give Gary a shout out for his creativity in composing these mini-lessons. You are a real artist, my man!
doug.balch@gmail.com says
Well, BRIAN, I guess you’re going to have to develop better name recognition. haha. Sorry about that.
Seriously, your compositions are all very well done. Please keep up the good work. And…I’ve almost got the Freddie King lesson down. Still grinding…..
Brian says
@doug. Awesome! Wait, who’s Gary?
gregd says
Thanks Brian
Stuck inside with the flu but I ,ll find the energy to give this a go.
p.s. don,t underrate yourself as a guitarist sometimes i plug in the headphones and just cruise the site to enjoy your ability -right up there with the best.In fact heres a suggestion put a you tube with no tab but you just jamming to a well known groove i.e the thrill is gone I,d be interested to listen as to how you go about the rhythm and solos cheers greg

I agree withGregd,however modesty is a virtue .
ochomarvo says
Another advanced lesson. This isn’t intermediate
ochomarvo says
But, I guess we don’t get better if we don’t challenge ourselves..I’ll take it a lick at a time…it’ll take weeks for this one, lol
ochomarvo says
A close up of fret board would be nice on the slow Walk throughs .
LARRY G says
That would be a great help!
damewe says
Absolutely loved it, especially the lead in. Thank you
ochomarvo says
I can see a little Clapton and Gary Moore influence but I don’t see any Stevie Ray influence on this one…
Flamejob says
A big thanks from Australia Brian. The tone settings (for the OCD and the guitar) sounded great and I was able to get a really nice tone using both.
crawf says
More like this Brian.I think your lessons are the best I have seen.many thanks.
jimbostrat says
This Part 2 lesson is probably Brian’s finest. There’s a lot of headway any guitarist can make here and it has both the all-important touch and feel! It also has Call & response and some really cool flow…….if anyone cares to really ‘up their game’ a bit more…….try hybrid picking hitting the open G string whilst playing the lower notes at the first fret ala David Grissom!! This takes some practice but it really adds even more sophistication to this already cool solo!!

Another great lesson. I am having problems with bends, cannot seem to do a proper bend without catching other strings and stopping the sound of the release. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
jarthur says
Great lesson! My fingers about to fall off from practicing so much. Since this is my very first lesson, its got get easier as I play more. Thanks for helping me grow as a guitarist.
jontyblu says
EP056 is a great lesson but a hard one and I find myself going back over it time and again. Is anyone else finding the individual sections reasonably OK but the hard part is joining them together smoothly. Maybe could put it down to conflicting artistic styles but I’m not anywhere good enough to attribute that!
paul112 says
Hi …lover the lesson .. I have a question however…Last tab of first page ..Second video….what does the 10 and /5 mean please?
thanks
romo1948@yahoo.com says
Wow.. this is my sound.. I want to go on and on with this one. Maybe you can pick your brain and do another solo on this?
Thanks.. Hal

Hey Brian, Great lesson.
LARRY G says
What’s nbsp?
LARRY G says
Brian, I really like this kind of Blue’s and would like a lot more! Why is it called “dirty Blues”? I would really appreciate a response. Thank you
Brian says
I don’t know – the tone sounded dirty 🙂
James F says
why no play along tab at bottom of this lesson ?
rolloman says
Really great lesson Brian. Gonna try it out with the backing track. Doe’s anyone know the tempo so I can set my metronome?
LARRY G says
More dirty blues please!
David B says
This is such a great lesson with a ton of little treats. I wish it had the tab play back and background track with guitar. I’m finding it near impossible to get the timing right with the track.
Matt C says
Really liked this too but what the hell is nbsp? Just a curious old fart.
Rob H says
Great lesson…thanks Brian.
Adrian T says
Brian please make more Gary Moore, Joe Bonamassa, SRV hybrid style like what you did here. This is one of my fav lesson.
patrick c says
Great Solo man! I really appreciate the vidami pedal for lessons like this. Thanks!
IrishDirtydog says
Please can you do more Gary Moore blues? He was the best as far as i am concerned. The great B.B. King himself said Gary was in a class of his own. He is so under rated as a blues player and the meagre credit he does get seems to concern his rock and metal days. By the way I would also like to say thank you for your dedication and free lessons. Between yourself, Justin and Marty, I have learned to play after many years of watching others. I can comfortably play over jam tracks but totally suck at stand alone stuff. Anyway thanks again and keep her lit!
JULIAN C says
Great lesson – lots of fun following the details
Thanks Brian – I needed this one
IrishDirtydog says
I can’t see the on screen tab viewer to follow along with this. Any more Gary Moore stuff much appreciated too lol. He was the best.
