Description
This is a blues guitar lesson that can be played on either electric or acoustic guitar, although I think it sounds best on electric with some fuzz or overdrive. I’ve been listening to a lot of Gary Clark lately and I wanted to try to create something that was similar to his style of electric blues. He always has some great rhythm grooves and does a good job of re-creating the old delta blues rhythm on electric. In between the rhythm parts are some different lead fills that you can mix and match. Also, the jam track is available in 2 tempos (a slower version is available for those that need it).

Hi Brian Another excellent lesson that will help stretch the fingers a bit more.. great job
Brian thank you once again. What I enjoy most is how you continue to emphasis how these licks relate to the Chord and to the positions in the Key. After about 45 mins I believe I have the first 4 bars down!! whew….and while cooking dinner (not recommended)……
Cool. Saw Gary Clark in Sept. He opened for the Foo Fighters. Great guitarist. Nice lesson. Keep ’em coming.
Another great lesson thanks
Thanks Brian for another great lesson……each lesson just keeps on building new vocabulary for me…..be well.
Roberto
You never fail to amaze me Brian with your excellent & clean guitar playing!
Thanks again for keeping us challenged. Great Lesson!
Hi Brian
Thank you so much for all great lesson that you put out could you do a lesson By the Brothers Osborne Stay A Little Longer Its in key G flat
That could be a good lesson I like that king of music. You and ALFIE are in my prays
Thank You
Is that a new Fender your playing Brian? Looks like it could be an Eric Clapton Signature? Which is going to be my next guitar!
hear the Eric Clapton really cool , first time i played the minor pentatonic! I guess in time I will learn all these Clapton style licks ,,Like it a lot like .. very easy and fun.. as always ,thanks for helping me too Brian
(meant to say the minor pentatonic that way)
Can’t wait to learn this one!
That walk down, A#, A, G#,G reminded me of the song “I’m A Man” by Spencer Davis Group where the lyrics are “I’m a mannn, Yes I ammmm and I can’t help but love you so”. Is that the one you were thinking of?
Also down by Chicago.. I was going to say the same thing..
Ah yes – you may be right. That’s probably where that came from.
You’re really earning your money, thank you for this!
Excellent Brian. I really like the fuzz. The little chord walk down near the end might sound good played clean by a second guitarist but I’m just being picky.
1.) Yes to the fuzz!! That dirty electric blues is under-represented imho.
2.) Would you consider sprinkling in a tad more music theory? You’re already so good at breaking things down, it would add immensely if you were to mention that a run started on the 7b, or how ending on a 5 gives it that turnaround feel.
These little connections between theory and flavor are what makes everything snap into place for me, and I think add something extra for the intermediate crowd without sacrificing the accessibility.
G/day Brian,
Thank you for your response yesterday. I think though that the problem was more self related than computer related. I’m a bit neanderthal with this. Anyway, lovely shot of the family, mate. thanks again.
Best wishes,
Michael Jordan.
Hello! I’m new to your site. I pick up a few lessons… God, you got me working and i love every minutes of it. Thanks.
song structure seems odd – at least from a traditional sense anyhow – which makes it difficult to get it straight in my mind
