Great groove Brian! Nice to this Tele getting some play again recently; it’s interesting how we go through phases with our guitars.
Would be cool if you played the lesson on this and say you ES-175 for contrast and talked a bit about how different instruments inspire differently.
Mark H says
Great stuff. John Lee Hooker fans and rockabilly rebels will all get a lot out of this lesson.
Pierre L says
Great one! I’m in the right frame of mind for this. I was just practicing Howlin’ Wolf’s ‘Smokestack Lightning’ earlier.

I like this lesson a lot! Are the lessons freezing up and stopping and starting for anyone else or is it just my computer?
Max d says
Beautiful! Thanks again Brian

Try playing the 1 4 5 across the neck in triads. That’s why I think triads, caged and the pentatonic are so important. Thanks Brian, great lesson

Just searching Amazon for a “GUTIAR” to get started 😉 😜

Glad it’s not just me. Won’t admit to how long my “favourites” (partially done & To do) list is LOL. My must Re-learn list is out of control too.

Hello Brian, great lesson.
I was just wondering if you ever played a Zager guitar and what you thought of it if you did. I am looking for a new acoustic guitar for under 2,000.00.
I just moved to Hendersonville TN from Buffalo NY, any ideas would be great, Thanks and have a great weekend.
Brian says
I don’t like Zager at all. I would not recommend. back in 2015 Dennis Zager had sent and email to me letting me know that his legal team had noticed a negative comment about a Zager guitar on the ActiveMelody forum and asked me to remove it. Obviously, legally I had no obligation to do that because people can say whatever they want about any guitar, but to avoid further conflict, I removed the post. but because of that experience i’ve always discouraged Zager guitars.
mark g says
Thanks so much, What would you recommend me to look at in that price range ? I am 63 yrs old and having a hard time with some bar chords on my Yamaha APX8A . Thanks again and have a nice day. PS I know you live in TN, do you have a guitar store you would recommend.
kennard r says
interesting. Legal gets involved because a Player makes a negative comment about the product on an open forum. Thanks for the info.
James R says
Great lesson, I’m heavy into finding my way around the E minor scale, learning every lick I can. Jumping into B minor from that E7 chord is the kind of moves I’m working on. I play finger style so I’m putting my own spin on this with droning bass.
I’m looking for an everything Brian can teach E minor pentatonic master class. Play by yourself formatting with finger and pick versions. hint hint.
Paul M says
This is a beauty, thanks as always, Brian

My second time through and I am realizing there is some serious meat in this lesson! This is one to memorize so I have a way to practice these awesome licks. Thank you Brian. You continue to keep me on a steep learning curve. Love it!
Allan says
top top lesson Brian love it great groove
Michael D says
Love this. What settings are you using for the amp sound, a reverb or some overdrive? Struggling to get the sound.
Jason says
I love the tone on this as well.
Joe N says
Great lesson Brian. Love the beat and the wonderful licks. This one will take some time . Thanks again.
Charles M says
Love it! Good things always happen when I see the telecaster.
Scott F says
I am greatly enjoying your lessons, Brian. I am a bit more advanced than most, but I enjoy your creativity.
I also appreciate your guitars!! As I own about 11 vintage and newer electrics, I am an avid fan of the sound and art of these beautiful instruments, eg you 017 Martin is gorgeous as well but I could only find one for $3100 on eBay and its a 1954. The older ones are over 4K.
I also am interested in the telecaster like instrument you are playing the Chicago blues solo on. It has a hum bucker in the bridge position and what appears to be a newer P90 near the fretboard. Can you discuss it or tell me about this?
Brian says
Thanks Scott – that guitar is a Danocaster – circa 2016
Leo Lutz says
Such a great blues! Good choice of key. This one has it all–rhythm, licks, open strings, dynamics, playing the changes, etc. Thanks!!
Chris H says
Come on, Brian … you’ve gotta be getting some session work … the riffs you come up with are gold.
Michael B says
CHUNKY!!!

Great groove this one Brian, thank you
Dave says
Awesome lesson! The call and response stuff is great, some of my favorites, especially when playing by yourself. But for some reason I’m one of those you mentioned that might have a hard time getting past the shuffle intro – like two left feet over here. Starting out with that E chord, that isn’t in the tablature, confuses me a little too. I try slowing it way down to closely observe how you’re doing it, but the visual and audio alignment get too choppy. It’s not you, it’s ME. I’m just wondering if anyone else had this issue and could offer some tips how to get past it. I could fake it with my own version, but I’d like to stay true to Brian’s lesson so I can learn where I’m lacking – if you know what I mean?
