I can try that. The strange thing is that I can watch 3 or 4 videos just fine, then this message will appear. But once I see this screen, I can’t watch the video at all. If I click on the “Learn More” I get a blank screen. If I click on the Play button, I just get a blank screen. Very strange.

So far this has not happened to me so I do not 100% know how to fix it but I suspect this could be a browser and cookie issue. Youtube also might have updated their site and this would affect the stored cookies on your browser. The best ways to maybe avoid this from happening would be to always update your browser when an update is available and to clear your browser’s cache (especially Youtube cookies), sometimes a simple page refresh might work.
You could also try logging out of YouTube on the website and then logging back in.🎸JoLa

Good idea, thanks Jola. I’m beginning to suspect it might be a Safari thing. So far I haven’t had it happen when I use Firefox. But its the randomness of it happening that is a mystery to me.

Yeah, I’m a big Apple fan, using Macbook and iPhone and all that but I do not use Safari on the computer, it annoys me. My go to browser is Brave, occasionally I’d have to use Chrome and have no issues.

It not surprising Chrome works and perhaps it’s a good thing google are being forced to sell it. Perhaps it will force them to abide by universal browser standards in the future.
It’s a complete PITA and I’ve not found a reliable way to resolve. Running a video in YouTube then opening a new browser tab has worked for me for a while but why the heck should we have to do that to watch a video we should never need a YouTube account to watch anyway 🤬 -

I am struggling with the same problem and have described it in the forum “Forum help ….”. It seems to be a Safari/Google problem. What I have done is:
Turned off the computer (Mac Studio running Sonoma 14.6.1).
Restarted and the first thing I did was sign in to the Google account. There I was asked to enter a phone number so that I could reset my password if necessary. I did this with gritted teeth.
Restarted Safari with logged in to Google and since then the problem has not recurred and I really hope it stays that way.
Best regards from Werner
“The Sign…” in the message refers not to AM or Youtube. They mean the Google account

Me too for a while last week – Safari or Firefox (my go to). Stopped after a couple of days, clearing cache etc didn’t help. (iMac)

Did a little more digging and found that the “learn more” link is apparently this one.
Not that it helps much. The bit that seems relevant from that page seems to be …….
“Check that you’re signed into YouTube
Make sure you’re signed into YouTube. In order to protect the YouTube community, we may prevent signed-out users from accessing YouTube videos when they’re attempting to download material for offline use.
If you’re a researcher trying to access YouTube data for your academic research, you can apply to YouTube’s researcher program. Learn more about the process and what data is available.”
…..
That seems to raise more questions than it answers.
It would also suggest that YouTube thinks we’re downloading videos rather than streaming them and challenging us to log into to check if we’ve paid for the rights to download. ie do you have a YouTube account with a paid subscription (which I don’t and suspect most of us don’t either)
But I don’t think the embedded videos are downloaded so it makes absolutely no sense!!!!
There are other communities up in arms about it too so we’re not alone.
