My budget is about 40 bucks. What do you recommend? I found this one on Amazon. Anyone know anything about it? https://www.amazon.co.jp/Dean-Markley-%E3%83%87%E3%82%A3%E3%83%BC%E3%83%B3%E3%83%9E%E3%83%BC%E3%82%AF%E3%83%AC%E3%83%BC-%E3%82%A2%E3%82%B3%E3%83%BC%E3%82%B9%E3%83%86%E3%82%A3%E3%83%83%E3%82%AF%E3%82%AE%E3%82%BF%E3%83%BC%E7%94%A8%E3%83%8F%E3%83%A0%E3%83%90%E3%83%83%E3%82%AD%E3%83%B3%E3%82%B0%E3%83%94%E3%83%83%E3%82%AF%E3%82%A2%E3%83%83%E3%83%97-3015/dp/B0002GXW5W/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_2?__mk_ja_JP=%E3%82%AB%E3%82%BF%E3%82%AB%E3%83%8A&keywords=dean+markley+pickups&qid=1570786258&s=musical-instruments&sr=1-2-fkmr1

It really is all about ”melody”. The melody comes from a language from our heart. Our heart is the muscle in music harmony. The melody is the sweetness that it pumps into our musical thoughts on the fretboard. 🙂 6 stringer Pete

Pete,
I just boughtthis pickup and it sounds good to my ears. You can get the single pickup or the humbucking pickup. This video shows the single pickup. I’ll post a video soon of my setup.

Pete,
It’s a Viva MTP-11 passive magnetic soundhole pickup. This is the single coil. If you want the humbucker it’s model number Viva MTP-12. The humbucker is a little more expensive maybe $10.
Let me know if you are able to locate one.

Generally speaking, Dean Markley pickups get good reviews and they’ve been building acoustic pickups for a long time. It should be a good pickup for what you wanting.
Seymour Duncan & Fishman have pickups in that approx price range as well

At $100 it costs about twice your budget but I’ve been 200% pleased with my LACE CALIFORNIA ACOUSTIC PICKUP. I find it gives a very clean and pure amplification of guitar’s natural tone.
It attaches with soft pads so there’s no damage to the guitar, and it includes a 1/4″ jack (out through the strap hole). Here’s the link to the p/up
https://www.musiciansfriend.com/accessories/lace-california-acoustic-soundhole-pickup-with-endpin-jackAlso, by attaching at the front of the sound-hole it’s more like the neck p/up on an electric, less twangy, more dark and resonant tone.
Here’s a sample of it at work: -

You have to be careful when buying soundhole pickups Pete as some of them don’t fit as not all soundhole are the same size. This could be more a problem for yourself if you are buying unseen..
Personally I have had little success with the only soundhole pickup I’ve þried on my acoustics, either too large, too small or sat too high and close to the strings....Billy..

Check the reviews. Dean Markley makes a good product. Ley your ear be the judge. I use an LR Baggs for my Blueridge and stock Martin for my Martin.

I’ve been looking at various options on acoustic pickups and the best way to amplify my resonator.
With all the revues and material out there the lace stuff kept coming up, given thier cost I put it on the back burner but it did put me off buying cheap.

TimHey Tim
Can’t buy it here on Japan Amazon. I guess I’m out of luck for that one. Did read the reviews on it. Seems exactly what I can afford.
I still haven’t bought one yet, so any more suggestions …The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete

Thanks John. I haven’t bought anything yet, still looking. I’m really surprised at such low prices too on chinese made pickups. But i wonder if they are any good…

I wish Lace were cheaper. I’m a Lace fan way back from the 90’s.

Even though the pickups may be made in China, they are still built to Dean Markley’s specs and have to go thru their QA process to verify quality. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy one only b/c it was made in China…. Now a no name pickup made in China??? Uh no…..
Yamaha bought a factory in China to build some of their acoustic guitars and the quality is really good b/c Yamaha controls that very closely. Many of the Ibanez guitars are also built in China and the quality is first rate

I couldn’t find much info on this side of the pond but Artec is one of the largest producer of pickups in the world so chances are they make the Dean Markley and other pickups.
If the conversion that I did was correct, the cost is about $36 so it would be worth a try
Here’s a video that I found on You Tube

That’s the one I ordered. Are they made in Korea? They sure look nice from the picture. And for 40 bucks (3900 yen) and free shipping not bad. Cost me 24 dollars to go out of town to a big music store by train, so this was a good buy for me. Again, thanks.

Yes, Artec is a Korean company. I put a set of their Alnico 3 pickups from their “Premium” line in a 335 copy and they are great sounding pickups.
Artec is most likely the company that builds the pickups for Epiphone, Squier, Yamaha, Washburn and many other electric guitars that are imports

Well, I finally got it installed and recorded a sound test on it. 4 samples. I really wanted a video on this, but I still can’t get my Android to work with YouTube. I’ll keep trying. Any suggestions? The bass notes are solid and the treble on 8’s really come out soft and clear. Picks up chords very well. For about 40 USD, I’m very happy with the pickup. Highly recommend them.
I’m playing this on my pawnshop buy for 30 bucks. It’s a Morris W-18. Someone on the forum says it looks like the Martin (something) forgot. But its a fine guitar. It’s to my understanding its mostly for flatpicking? Actually when Hide ひで was visiting Japan and stopped over, he didn’t let the guitar go out of his hands while we were jam’n a bit.The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete
