Let me wish Brian and all of you in Active Melody a Very Happy New Year with this song. It took about one month to learn this. Made some modifications to suit my skills. Tempo is also reduced by about 6% compared to original song.
The guitar is an Indian brand. I bought a minor damaged one from a musical website for around 60 USD equivalent.
Thanks for listening!

That was awesome Unni! You are getting proficient at Surf music and I’ve seen the improvement in your playing. You absolutely nailed this one. I used to listen to Dick Dale and may have to take a try at some Surf music myself once I’m able.

Thank you Joe. I purchased around 18 songs backing track and tabs from website of The Atlantics. Only less than Australian dollars 20 for all of them together. The speed, I reduced by 6% and modified some sections to suit my capability.
To keep myself motivated, I also try to learn already played songs like the above. Otherwise, I find that there is nothing much to play as a complete song. My improvisation, blues learning, music theory learning etc is slow and the content I create myself is incomplete and turn out to be small pieces. Since music is only a hobby for me with no public performance or content creation target, learning is slow but enjoyable.
Wishing you a happy new year!

I’m in the same camp as you Unni…it’s a hobby and I just play for myself and my wife and also want to keep my mind active.

Playing for ourselves is enjoyable due to the absence of any pressures, joe.
I am just a hobbyist with no formal learning of music or guitar.
Everything self learned. Active Melody is my fist learning place and I am 62 yrs !Unni

Sounds great, Unni. Looks like you got quite a bargain with that guitar.

John, I bought this guitar for experimentation with pickups etc. But
I find that its very good and in some aspects better than Fender.
These are all made in China and these days, Chinese technology and workmanship is very good.I think contribution on the physical characteristics of guitar is minimum, to the final sound.
Even the pickup also, brand related differences is not that much. Its just a coil around magnets
and if the turns of the coil, magnet type, workmanship are okay, even an unknown brand cand sound good.
45 years ago I have handwound pickups myself and also made very low noise pre-amps with transistors. The effects processor/pedals etc decides 80% of the sound quality I think. Now computers can also
replace the pedals due to technology and very high speed.unni

Wow Unni that was excellent! 🙌🙌. Your playing has reallly improved significantly since you joined this forum.
By the way, I never play my guitars on the beach because I worry the wind, sand and sun will damage them 😅

Thank you Geoff! 🙏🙏
I did not actually sit on the beach. These are two separate videos blended in Davinci Resolve video editor. I played with an evenly illuminated green cloth behind me. This green color is removed and made transparent, in the editor. Any video or still image in the track below will then become the background. its easy. only thing is, you have to evenly illuminate the cloth, nothing should be seen through the cloth, there should not be any major folds in the cloth.
