My favorite is my 1960 something Zen-On Classical guitar. I play anything I want on it and it just sounds the way I feel about the emotional movements of my musical thoughts.
Here is something I recorded using it also with some sound effects. Actually if one is very experimental on any instrument, one can create their own signature sound. At least that is how I feel.https://app.box.com/s/8rdz1biiu7f7ambmwvr6nmombcp8ha9p
The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete
It really is all about ”melody”. The melody comes from a language from our heart. Our heart is the muscle in music harmony. The melody is the sweetness that it pumps into our musical thoughts on the fretboard. 🙂 6 stringer Pete

1960’s Fender Custom Shop Roasted Relic
Jimi fan here, so it was always going to be a strat. I wasn’t totally happy with the first two American strats I owned and then I found this one. Admittedly, the cost results in only incremental gains but, hey, I’m worth it! Some people hate the relic finish but I have to say this guitar has such a worn in, comfortable feel.
The dark rosewood fret board was a must for me. The neck and body are roasted, supposedly to improve resonance and prevent fret sprout. The fret board edges are rolled and the back of the neck is sanded. There is amazing detail to the finish of the fret ends. Add a slim C neck and larger frets and the feel is perfect for me. The pick ups are custom shop fat 60’s and are a little warmer than many other stock pick ups. The birds eye maple neck, tinted with the roasting, made it a little more unique.
This is my number one. Here’s a brief sample how she sounds.

What a beauty! 😍
I would love to own a Strat. I think if I ever find one that really fits me, that will be my favorite e-guitar, too. I had a bad experience with a cheap MiM strat I bought once second-hand and I just don’t have the opportunities to try different ones, any visits to the local GC are futile. And there are so many versions of Fender Stratocasters out there that I am completely lost.I love the look of that roasted headstock and the relic. That and the rosewood neck would also be my choice.

Your number 1 has some nice appointments, love that retro colour and the roasted neck , I am also a fan of dark boards rosewood / ebony ,the relic finishing has been applied tastefully and not over the top , lush tone sounds as it should .

Great variety in your collection, Martin, especially with respect to pick ups. I have a friend that owns one of those Nashville teles and he loves it. I’ve been tempted by the new Yamaha Revstars with P90’s.

The Yamaha Revstars are endorsed by a brilliant Welsh guitarist, Chris Buck, who was invited to do a spot with Slash ( Guns ‘n Roses ), after Slash saw him play and described him as ” F*****g awesome”. If you’ve never heard of him look him up on Youtube, Slash wasnt wrong, Chris won Guitarist magazines player of the year one year. He fronted Buck & Evans and now Cardinal Black.

Pete,
I like how you experiment with effects and melodies with your nylon strings guitar. And I totally understand why this would be your favorite one, as I also love nylon strings.
I have quite a few guitars but can’t pick a favorite one …🤔 Each one of them has something else to offer and it’s hard to just pick one because it depends on the kind of music I wanna play, my mood, the circumstances (practice or performance, home or away). If I feel uninspired with one, I just grab a different one and so on. If I were to pick just ONE favorite guitar, it would have to be narrowed down to some categories, like: acoustic for practice, or acoustic for songwriting, an electric for noodling, favorite for travel, favorite for jams outside, and so on.
One example: I am drawn to small body guitars and these two have proven to be very reliable companions for me, the 1970’s nylon strings Lady Nelson and Taylor GS Mini. They’re the easiest to play and sound much better than what you’d expect from their size.

Breedlove Oregon Myrtlewood Myrtlewood Concerto CE – best playing and best sounding acoustic that I’ve ever owned/played
Myrtlewood has such a distinct tone and Breedlove engineers their guitars to have such a balanced tone from low to high – reminds me of an electric guitar with a compressor so that the volume of each string is equal.-

That’s a beauty, Keith. There’s a big music store in my vicinity that has a grand opening of a Breedlove Mezzanine next Fri and Sat. They will have demos and seem to have almost any model. I was planning to check it out.

Hi,
Having only 2 guitars, the tour of the property is quickly done.
This one is my favorite : a cort m520.
.it was my first guitar (who forget his first love?)
.when i see it, i want to play it
.the frets are very low compared to my pacifica, and i prefer.
.i think (more than i really know how to fully beneficiate) that the upgraded pick up with Seymour Duncan will give it a long life as i will play betterRegarding my pacifica, one day i will re-dress it with a blue tartran pickguard.
My ’dream guitars’ are ether a telecaster or (and it s funny you present it) a yamaha revstar with p90 (if frets not too high).
But my main focus is playing yet, rather than having a new one. When i will be better, with my own style (not really identify where i want to go yet) i may buy my ultimate guitar.
It was pleasant to see your loved one too, thank you for the initiative Pete.

JohnHey John
If you do a search on Bing or Google for Breedlove Myrtlewood guitars and look at the various pictures, every one of them will be totally different in appearance. The grain of Myrtlewood is very unique and people are surprised that they aren’t looking at custom shop models.
My wife & I went into Third Rock Music in Cincinnati – I had no intention of buying that day but sales guy handed this guitar to me and its tone even caught my wife’s ear. I played the same song each time that the sales guy handed me a different guitars, I must have played 7-8 guitars that day – Breedlove, Taylor, Fender and some of the Master Built Epi’s. Each time, we came back to this Breedlove – this one shined brighter than a Breedlove priced several hundred more – and when you have your wife’s approval – Hey, money in the bank LOL We brought it home that day.
Breedlove’s story is inspiring from their research & design methodology to their position on conservation – They won’t use any wood from clear cut but prefer to find trees that Mother Nature has downed for their guitars
Reading thru this page, the various articles about the history of Breedlove & their philosophy is worth your timeJohn I know this may shock you but I’m more of a Breedlove fan than I am a G&L fan! LOL

Hey Phil
You have 2 really good guitars – Yamaha Pacifica have been made for many years and they are exceptional
Cort makes some great quality guitars and I think that they likely build Epiphone, I know that they did at one time. Paul Reed Smith contracted them to build some of the is acoustic guitars, don’t know about their electrics but Paul Reed Smith is very strict on QA so I know that he would not have employed them
I love the looks of their newest LP models – If I were buying one, it would be toss up between the Amber & Blueburst model. Both look great

I have three electric guitars. A Yamaha Pacifica 112, a Vintage SG VS6 and my pride and joy – a Vintage V100 PGM (Peter Green/ Gary Moore replica) as well as an acoustic guitar. I got the V100 Les Paul type for my fiftieth birthday last August. I can play “The Prophet” by Gary Moore and can jam along with tracks but am otherwise useless lol.
Gary Moore is my favourite artist. I grew up with his rock and as I aged, I fell in love with his blues. His touch was exquisite, and he can break your heart or mend it with a touch of the strings. I am from Northern Ireland, where Gary was from, and it shames me to say that even in this tiny country he is mostly unknown. In my humble opinion Gary was the best there ever was or will be.
I listen to him every day and if you have never heard of him i recommend you give your ears a treat and check out some of his live performances on you tube. “The Messiah will come again”, “Parisienne Walkways”, “Empty rooms” are good for starters. Then check his blues!! Even B.B. King said Gary was in a league of his own. Albert King, B.B King, George Harrison, along with many others, played with him and stood in his shadow for evoking pure emotion and raw, passionate heart, skill, soul and talent. A Legend so overlooked it’s hard to understand why. Anyway, I hope you like my guitars.

My favorite is my K-Line Truxton tele-style made by Chris Kroenlein in St. Louis. Chris builds amazing custom guitars out of his one man shop. He also winds his own pickups and they sound fantastic.
I liked my Truxton so much, I turned right around and ordered one of his Strat style guitars, which I also love. Also thinking about ordering another Truxton from him, this time with a rosewood fingerboard 🙂

Gotta be my Ibanez Artcore. The neck is a little beefier than my Tele, and the tone is to die for. Looks big, kinda in between an ES339 and 335, but very comfy to play. It’ll be one year with me in December.
Hey Alan
Beautiful guitar!! I’ve said many times that Ibanez semi-hollow guitars are the poor man’s Gibson – great quality & playability for sure. Considering the price of a Gibson ES-335, I’ll buy the Ibanez every time and have a lot of money left over for other toys LOL
I have 2 older Ibanez semi-hollow guitars; these are bigger than a Les Paul and probably a little thinner than your guitar.
The maple guitar has the beefier neck like you speak of, likely patterned after the ’59 Les Paul
The Bubinga model has a smaller neck, more like the slim taper of the ’60 Les Paul & ES-335, exceptionally easy to play; its also lighter weight than the mapleToss up which one that I like the best

Thanks – just like Alan’s, the poor man’s Gibson.
The flame on Alan’s guitar is gorgeous and the neck on an Ibanez guitar is great. Usually the fret work is exceptional for an import guitar

Ive a small collection of 10 guitars, one Fender strat hss, one tele thinline, an Epiphone Les Paul, one Gretcch 5420, a couple of copies, an ancient Grenn bass, acoustics, a Hondo2 which is a copy of a Gibson Kalamazoo I think, an Almeria nylon Spanish, and a beautiful Ibanez AEL403 which lives in my daughters home in Denmark as we stay there often. My weapon of choice for the last 8 years is my Epiphone ES339 in pelham blue. It plays like a comfortable cardigan, holds tune better than any guitar Ive ever owned or played and is just beautiful. Just a little Fender Mustang amp and a few pedals for fun and Im as happy as little boy with a new bike.

This what I have these guitars are British based company here in the UK called Vintage they been around sometime
What I love about them the V6P Stratocaster Style with the stock 3 P90’s is unique the hardware is from Wilkinson it weights close to 11 pounds, it has a volume and tone control, the tone control you can roll off and get some really nice tones, the P90’s are ceramic stock not bad, but one day I will look at upgrading, the next the V100 this is a 2010 model pre-lawsuit from Gibson, ( Gibson is suing everyone these days ) just love this Les Paul type guitar when the guitar was setup the guitar tech a Les Paul owner said this is a Les Paul it has the correct weight the feel, personally I cannot see myself spending the money on a Gibson, it will be getting a wiring upgrade soon to a 50’s style, the Humbuckers are Wilkinson Alnico 5 are fine but eventually like the V6P I would love to put in a really decent set, the last was given to me for free Ovation acoustic its great when there is a acoustic lesson, it’s not perfect but it does the job, the amp the BOSS Katana Mini I cannot say enough how brilliant this little beast for 7 watts its has a pretty big sound for a tiny amp, and when you live in a flat noise can be issue this is perfect, one more thing about the guitars both have been setup they only need the basics there is was no bad frets no fret sprout, that’s what I have, -

That’s a hard one. I love them equally. They all put up with my lack of finesse and beginner abuse. And though, they may sound a little cranky at times, they never swear back at me. 😉

I seem to play this fake Telecaster the most often as it plays the best of my bunch. It started out life as an Indonesian made Telecaster copy that I picked up at a guitar shop in Co Springs. Originally I thought I would hang it on the wall as artwork, but then I reshaped and refinished the neck and body to my liking. It turned out to play so nice it became my go to guitar. It has new pots, hardware and Texmex pickups. Working on it while watching YouTube videos taught me how to mod and set up my own guitars. Now I’m always fiddling with the necks, tuners, bridges, frets and action.
I have a few Japanese made acoustics from the seventies, a Squire Strat and a nice Ibanez Artcore AS-73. -
July 9, 2023 at 8:50 am #346968
That was certainly a beautiful piece of work you recorded Pete. As for my favorite guitar I would have to say it’s a toss-up between my black Standard Strat MiM, 2020 PRS 24 CE 35th Anniv., and my Fender Special Edition Custom FMT HH Black Cherry Burst. It’s not expensive but I think it’s beautiful and motivating to play, and the Seymour Duncan Humbuckers sound real throaty.

This is my “favorite” 2006 Custom Shop Stratocaster “Closet Classic” prototype. I used to feel guilty owning this guitar since my skill set did not live up to how nice this guitar is. Kinda like the guy that buys a manual transmission supercar but can’t drive a stick. I have since gotten better and allowed myself some grace. It has a roller nut, Sperzel locking tuners, rosewood fingerboard, floating tremolo, old school “big” headstock, plays like butter.
