Hi everyone,
I recently had the opportunity to purchase a pink Squier Mini Hello Kitty guitar. These are very collectible now and the Squier Mini Strats now sell for anywhere from $200 to $400 plus if they are in excellent condition. This one is a 2009 edition and is one of those in excellent condition. I bought it for way below $200 so a great deal. The Hello Kitty guitars came out in 2006 when Fender decided to market this line to girls. Fender got a deal with the Japanese company Sanrio which owns the rights to the Hello Kitty character. These guitars and the larger Strat model have been played by Slash, Dave Navarro and other guitarists. The regular sized Strats are expensive to buy now and harder to find in great condition. Fender also made a bass guitar Hello Kitty edition and you don’t get to see these too often either.
The mini guitar sounds great and is really fun to play.
Anyway, here is a quick rendition of Pink Panther on a Pink Mini Squier Strat Hello Kitty edition.
And her is a guy playing the same guitar with a funk groove.

I bought a Squire Mini for my grandson about 5 years ago. The trouble is, it sounds like crap (really poor quality pickups), and is difficult to play due to the weird action, and the input jack socket failed right away (threads got stripped). So he immediately took over his dad’s full-sized Strat and never much touched the Mini. I’ve seen some Youtube videos where people completely rebuild Minis and turn them into functional guitars, so maybe I’ll do that sometime. I would have to replace everything metal on it.

That’s an unusual looking “Hello Kitty”, 1st I have seen one without the kitty as a pick guard.
I am wonder why a sub £100 guitar would be selling for 2 or 3 times its worth used compared to new..
The old fingers are getting fast and furious these days Tim, You’ve been practising I see..well played man, well played indeed...Billy..

Billy,
Thanks. Yep, good practice for these old fingers…..have to keep em agile enough to drink beer when needed….. The one you have pictured is the one I want to get now. They are hard to come by in excellent condition but I hope to find one in the future. It’s kinda stupid really but they are cute and as I say collectible so you can always make your money back if need be.

Jade,
Yeah I know. My wife wants one of those. She recently got a First Act Hello Kitty acoustic which is also cute and ( see pic ) hard to find.

The guitar looks very oblique. I think that you like this look or not; there is probably nothing in between.
Anyway; I’m sure you can do something on the guitar in terms of sound, playability and whatever.
Yes Tim, it is something special. Definitely.
Did you go among the collectors?
WilfriedPlay guitar just like you live; don't get bogged down in theory, it's just a tool without feeling.

Wilfried,
My wife is a big fan of these Hello Kitty guitars so I am searching the internet for the acoustic shown in the video and the regular sized Squier strat in pink. You’re right you either like the look or you don’t.
