As this Forum is quiet at the moment with presumably everyone busy preparing for the next challenge, I thought I’d share with you a blues number that I listen to regularly.
This iconic blues originally recorded by Peter Green is played here by Snowy White and to me, is a wonderfully crafted number, it’s simple yet so effective, the phrasing is stunning and the melody evokes such emotion.
Wherever you are on your guitar journey this iconic blues number could serve well as the epitome of playing blues guitar.

I had never heard of him before Richard. Thanks for the introduction! It was interesting to see him start with his thumb and then switch to a pick. And then there was a very smooth transition to keyboards. Very cool and talented for sure!

Truly sublime playing. So much to be gleaned from that performance…

Thanks, Richard. I’ve seen it before but enjoyed it thoroughly. It’s a beautiful, simple backing track to improvise over.

Snowy White is the greatest unknown guitarist ever. His name isn’t readily known and why, I don’t know.
He is so good that David Gilmour hired him to play backup guitar on The Wall tour with Pink Floyd and that says everything. His 1957 Gold Top Les Paul brought almost $100k at auction, it was the only guitar that he used throughout his career and as you will see in this video, it was well worn

That is some sweet playing Richard. One thing I love about the forum is the posts of great performances and exposure to people who we may have heard play on records but were not familiar with. I never heard the name Snowy White but I am a fan of Peter Green, Thin Lizzy and Pink Floyd. Thanks to Keith also for the 57 Goldtop story.

I can’t believe I’ve never heard of this guy. I’ve been listening to his stuff since reading this post. He’s incredible! An amazing guitarist. Check out his recording of Midnight Blues.
