Congratulations on your first submission, Lilia! I enjoyed hearing you sing, and you put good expression into the accent strums at the ends of verses. Suggestions? Just keep playing and have fun. That’s the best way to improve.

Hi John! I’m working on those chords changing. And trying to make them sound clean. Still trying to figure out. Next time in the Burgh hopefully I will be able to strum some chords with Yinz:))

I love that song! Keep it handy, because it might be a good campfire song. But here’s what I think: You can already sing, and your playing is getting better and better, and your cameraman is doing a great job, so next it’s time to think about ramping up your audio recording skills. An easy way to do this is to just buy an external mic that plugs into your smartphone. The iRig mics have a cable so the mic can be positioned near you, but the camera can still be moved a bit. Once you are ready for your Youtube videos to go viral so you can start making some money, you will need to record your audio into a DAW (GarageBand is maybe the most common one). Then you will need a video editor (iMovie is very common) so you can sync the audio with the video. So that’s what you have to look forward to. No hurry. Ask plenty of questions here on the forum and you will get lots of good ideas and suggestions. We all like helping each other out.

Thank you Steve.
This is my three day into learning this song. Wanted to spend more time before recording. But Bobby is moving with the speed of light! LOL!!!
Definitely will keep playing and applying more skills to this and all other songs I’ll be coming across.
And I do have a question. What EP stands for? I asked Robert. He doesn’t know. Are there any other abbreviations I need know on this site?
Thank you.Lilia

Your first time performing in public or private is always the hardest because of being nervous that you’ll mess up but Lillia you’ve done a great job of performing.
If I may make a suggestion about when you play and sing, always sing loader then your guitar it allows the listener to hear your vocals and it builds up confidence in yourself.
When you practice playing your guitar practice singing loader and soon you’ll be yourself singing out with confidence and that’s what’s important.
That is, being yourself.-
December 6, 2021 at 8:41 am #285761
Thank you!
I’ll practice more on playing guitar with singing. I know I can sing. But never did it while playing instrument. Concentrating on chords takes my attention from my voice. So more practice!!!Lilia

Very well done, Lilia. I am glad your private tutor made you do it! You have a beautiful voice and the guitar- playing matched that perfectly. Great first submission!
By the way, we are expecting great things from you: you can sing, play and – when I recall correctly- create beautiful lyrics. 😉
Moreover, Bob is right! Regular submission are the best way to improve your playing. With me, improvement only started after joining the challenges. O.k. – I do not have the „best private tutor“ 😁
Stay tuned!Bluesige Grüße

Hello Juxi!
Agree with you and my private tutor( he is the best!:)) One thing is to sit in the corner and have endless practicing vs. bring it to a somewhat final product. Even if it is just the beginning level. That means more videos from me :))))Lilia

Welcome to the challenges Lilia and that was a great debut. You have a nice voice but it was rather quiet so I suggest that you mike up your voice for future recordings.

First challenge, Lilia, welcome! And you are already so brave to sing this lovely song. And you succeed to give your personal flair to it. And first of all, you seem to have fun with it. And this is what you should do. Having fun playing guitar. That is how i learned to play guitar in the last 3 years.
Take the chance to meet your AM friends on Zoom
The next Meetup will be in spring 2025There will be a detailed announcement here in the forum a few weeks before.
I look forward to meet you.

Hats off to you Lilia, that was a brave and worthy submission, I echo everything that’s been said above. Keep playing and singing, it will all gradually come together ….. with the right personal coach/cameraman of course.

Thank you Bill!
I was a bit frustrated because it was my third day into this song. And to me it’s still unpracticed and unrehearsed. At the same time it shows I can play and sing. Looking forward to more challenges and lessons on AM!Lilia

Welcome to the Challenges. They definitely have forced me to practice regularly, with a goal and improve quicker than just making my own schedule. Keep at it and you will be amazed at how quickly you incorporate Brian’s lessons into your playing. I am soo jealous of people who can sing! I guess that’s why I like Active Melody, all instrumentals!

Great debut…enjoyable and that’s all that matters really. Only one piece of advice…you seem to be worrying about both your strumming and your chord shapes…I find it’s helped me to either focus on my strumming or chords in one song… otherwise I just find it too much to think about (and sing as well!)..

Welcome to the challenges Lilia! This is a really good first submission, playing and singing along is not an easy task, congrats!
If I wasn't making mistakes I wouldn't be the kind of player I want to be. Perfection is dangerous.
It's all about taking risks, sometimes you get to some place, sometimes you get to a different place. (Brian May) -
December 6, 2021 at 4:52 pm #285930
HI Lilia, my only suggestion is just keep playing. As long as it’s fun, its worth doing.
You have made a great start with those chords and you are doing the chord changes in all the right spots for the song – that is an excellent start. Over time that will get a lot easier.

December 6, 2021 at 5:33 pm #285942
Thank you Geoff! After every practice it does get better. Little by little. Even after frustrating days when I think I achieved nothing.

Wow, Lidia, what a debut! I have heard a lot about you but Bobby never mentioned that you also have musical talents! You only just started playing guitar and you have accomplished more than I did in 5 years! You did that by confident strumming, singing, AND being LIVE recorded (I’m pretty sure it was Bob behind the camera). You have no idea how much this is already! Since you have a great voice, and a talented live-in private guitar tutor and motivator, you are on your way to stardom and it’s gonna happen fast, I can tell! 👏👏👏👏👏

Welcome to the Challengers Lilia. You have a really nice voice and your chord changes and rhythmic strumming is very good, especially considering you’ve only picked up the guitar recently. Keep practising and keep having fun. All the best!

December 7, 2021 at 8:45 am #286082
Welcome to the challenges Lilia. You and Bob should do a duet of “I Got You Babe”. The chords are easy and you can both sing. Might be fun? 😉

Hi Lilia:
Welcome to AM and brilliant to have your first challenge response focus on a Beatle tune and roughly coincide with the release of the Get Back film. I’ve been enjoying that film and really enjoyed your video both for your guitar playing and singing. Sounds great!
Cheers, Tom

I see no one answered your question here, so if you still need to know
EP stands for Episode, these are the current standard weekly format. Brian had some earlier lessons that are labeled LEG for Legacy.
