Took me a bit to find a groove on this. So I started with copying the bass, and that theme remains.
I landed on Cm-F7-G7, minor pentatonic and a little Dorian.
This is my first take, so it’s a little raw. But I also liked the feeling and some of the licks I had so I’m sharing this one!

Hey Alan, I like the sound you get with the clean tone against the simple track. You’re nailing the changes, and the feel of it is raw and bluesy. Very enjoyable!

Very cool rendition, Alan! A very nice blues jam very enjoyable to listen to! Liked how you alternated the licks and leads with those sliding chords along the neck, keeping always a melodic groove! Good the first!

That worked Alan! I find the first take is often the best from an energy standpoint, and perfection can be the thief of that.
I especially liked when you played those staccato notes up the neck a bit. -

Very melodic sub Alan but also very much a blues feel as well. And first take, fantastic! Most of us are masters of the 39 takes before finding the best one! 😵💫 Well played. All the best! 😎🎸😎

GREAT VIBE ALAN. YOU DID A GREAT JOB OF PLAYING THE CHANGES AND THROWING A NICE JAZZY/BLUES SOUND ON THIS. I LIKED HOW YOU STARTED AT THE BOTTOM AND WORKED YOUR WAY UP…VERY MUSICAL.

I like your relaxed, soulful playing, Alan. It’s also very relaxing to listen to.
I agree with you: I also like the feeling of some of your licks, but I could discover nothing raw in your recording.
And one take, wow!Take the chance to meet your AM friends on Zoom.
The next Meetup will take place in May/JuneThere will be a detailed announcement here in the forum a few weeks before..
I look forward to meet you.

Nice one, Alan. I caught kind of a JJ Cale vibe in parts of your solo. Well played!

First take, wow! It’s cool how following the bass line put you in the pocket and then you expanded that into solo notes. Quite a good sounding and groovy performance, especially for a first take! Actually, often first takes are the best, at least in my case, and apparently in yours here 😉

Alan,
I am really liking the groove you found… similar to mind but a little more bluesy. Very cool job on this. Nice use of chords in between your lead runs. Impressive stuff. Thanks for sharing.John

Excellent Alan! Way to hit the ‘sweet’ notes on the chord changes. Nice lead lines and smooth playing throughout!

It just got better and better as you went along. As for a first take, you get a gold star.

Nice groove Alan , I like your approach , getting a hook and building on it , I’m also hearing a JJ Cale sound , very laid back and un hurried making each phrase stand out .
Excellent take !Martin

Sweet man. Good approach too, you can’t fo wrong doubling the bass line, finding the groove and taking off. You seemed pretty at easy outlining the chords all over fretboard. Goood stuff 👍
