Hi Folks,
How about an old country song to highlight a few harmonized sixths. The ‘Tennessee Waltz’. -

Hi James, this is a beautiful rendition of a great country classic. Those 6th work perfectly with it. Glad you sang a chorus too!

That’s a well crafted arrangement James , you work those harmonies in with a real feel for the music and that trademark vocal gave it just the right balance .
Love the ending as well.

I was disappointed that you weren’t singing — and then you were!
And the Tennessee Waltz was a perfect choice for this challenge. Beautifully done! -

Very creative as always James. Love that song. One of the good things about being “older” like us is our back catalog of songs, and you played and sang this one up to your usual high standards. Always very musical and engaging.

Had to be a song in your submission. Beautifully done, James. I love how the acoustic and electric switched lead and rhythm.

Another smasher James – great choice and great arrangement. I liked the way the lead swapped from acoustic to electric. I also liked the very subtle rhythm playing on the electric with nice fills.

That seems like a really appropriate choice for dyads, maybe it’s because I’ve heard people singing it in harmony in the distant past. Well played and well sung James!

A wonderful arrangement, and performance, James!
The moment you started singing and the electric guitarist took over the lead was phenomenal, like Wow!
Love your smooth guitar work, vocals, and the creativity, and oh yeah – a great use of the harmonies, too.

A song just to my taste. I always loved watching westerns as a kid and this one could easily have come from one of those movies. Great work as usual, James!

What a beautiful submission James! I’m impressed by both playing and singing!

It kind of puts me in a nostalgic mood, where you sit together and talk about how everything was better in the old days. And when you start singing, James, you know it really was better, but there’s nothing stopping us from enjoying it just as much today.
Take the chance to meet your AM friends on Zoom
The next Meetup will be in spring 2025There will be a detailed announcement here in the forum a few weeks before.
I look forward to meet you.

Thank you for this one, it brings back memories.

James,
Nice choice for this challenge. I really like the timing although it takes a little getting used to after all the 4/4 bluegrass stuff. Your voice is beautiful as always. It fun to watch you…you are so layed back and relaxed and you can always wait for it. Masterful! Happy New Years.
