You really convey a lot of feeling in this piece. And I have never seen a guitar like that. I think you would get a brighter tone, though, if you used a pick some of the time.

Very pleasant relaxed version. Emotional and a pleasant sound too. Well done John.
Play guitar just like you live; don't get bogged down in theory, it's just a tool without feeling.

Nicely played John. You sound great playing over that Hammond B3 Organ track. I like how you played with just your thumb. There’s a great Southern Rock guitarist named Toy Caldwell who only played with his thumb. He played for The Marshall Tucker Band (Can’t You See, Heard It In A Love Song, Etc.). There’s so many ways to coax sounds out of guitars. Your playing has a good flow to it.

Well John you’ve just come up with another lesson that I never heard before. It sounded great and that Taylor T5z is certainly a thing of beauty. If this was the result of something that you put together quickly one hazards to think how awesome would be a piece that you had practised over a long period of time.
-
February 27, 2021 at 4:06 pm #237877
Ha Ha Phil. Oh I practiced for a long time on that one. Like so many others. Thanks for the kind words.

Well played, John. That’s one of my favorite R&B style lessons. I never thought to play that lesson on an acoustic, but it sounds quite lovely, even though acoustics don’t have the sustain of an electric.

lovely take on yet another Brian classic; beautiful tone from that Taylor T5, lovely melodic soulful playing, great bends, slides, dripping with feeling and expression. I think I recorded this once; it’s sure haunting and memorable, and you really brought out the melody. Also you’re another one of the few of us who just our thumbs instead of a pick. I like the close contact with the strings (but I have to give up fast runs). Still, you get a great feel and tone the way you play. Thanks John B for binging this piece back.
Makes me think just how classic compositions Brian has gifted us with.-
