Hi Everyone
I downloaded the tab on EP 188 and was thinking about how nice it would be if there were down/up arrows on the measures that have tricky strumming patterns. What are the small numbers above the key signature for?

The small numbers above the first measure in each line is the bar number. I found it helped to use Soundslice at 50% speed and watch Brian’s hand motion while listening to the slowed down track.

Hi David, if number is 80 above the time signature, it’s BPM (beats per minute).
So far as adding the strumming pattern, if you “listen with a pencil,” you can get it that way. If Brian sees this and thinks it would be an easy add, I’d think it was a good thing, but after looking at ways Active Melody could be “improved upon,” I realized that I’m already getting a lot for what I pay (compare the rate to other instruction sites).

For the Youtube videos, download them and then play them using VLC Media Player. You can slow it down and follow the strumming patterns that way. It’s a good start for you.
There’s a post on how to use the VLC Media Player on the forum, or just look for “Help” on their site. The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete
It really is all about ”melody”. The melody comes from a language from our heart. Our heart is the muscle in music harmony. The melody is the sweetness that it pumps into our musical thoughts on the fretboard. 🙂 6 stringer Pete

I must be the last person on earth who actually prints out the tabs. My work requires me to print out documents I have written, so I still have a printer that works very well. I print out the tabs BEFORE I watch Brian’s video. Then when Brian says “down, down,up” or whatever, I hand write it on the tabs. It’s a primitive but effective method, and once you’ve done it, you can practice it offline.

I thank you people that replied to my post. I haven’t heard of Sound Splice or VLC Media Players. Lots of neat stuff to get familiar with.
