Hello friends,
This month I was a bit “overlistening” John Mayer’s last single “still feels your man” and thus drifted to Marvin Gaye… and I felt I need something that will make my guitar sound a bit pre-disko… So I decided to treat myself for Christmas and bought a wah-wah pedal… It came this week and with this came the inconvenience that there are just too much cables around… My pedal collection consists of a delay, an overdrive, a looper and the new wah-wah… This brought the necessity of a pedalboard, which on the other hand opens the door to a power station, patch cables, etc… expenses which I am not sure I want to make at this moment…
So I have checked some pictures of DIY pedalboards and came to the idea of building my own IKEA hack project. See pictures below.
One need the following:
– IKEA shelf: HEJNE about 8€;
– power unit – 3€;
– velcro stripes – 4€;
– two planks and some screws ~2€;
– several 9V DC adapters. About 5€ pro piece… You need just to change the polarity of the output wires so that it fits the guitar effect: the + is the outside wiring. I may put another topic about this… this hack saves a lot from adapters and by the way the quality is pretty good – no hum at all…So the sum is about 35€ everything… I know it’s not a crazy deal, but building it brings a lot of fun!!
Have fun and take care,

Very nice. I’ve recently reached the stage where my existing pedalboard is too small, so I shall have to build a new one also. If you’ve been watching John Mayer, you must have seen the massive pedalboard he has on stage.

Seeing as I now have 3 pedals then I may take a leaf out of your book and build a board to your design..

3 pedals is the Rubikon… Once you cross that number you need a pedalboard 🙂

Exactly, a small river near Rome which if crossed by an army would trigger colossal chain of events 🙂

My board uses Tack-It removable adhesive on a spare plank if you want to go the very easy way.
