Greetings to everyone,
I’ve been dealing with some hand issues and haven’t been able to play for a while. Hopefully I’m on the mend and will be back soon.
For this months riff challenge I thought it would be alright to submit a “ Showcase Your Playing” cover of a Creedence song I did three years ago. The opening riff is instantly recognized and repeated throughout the song. -

Crikey James, hearing that you can’t play because of hand issues is pretty scary news – let’s hope that gets resolved quickly. Your performance here seems to be the epitome of what Brian is looking for in this challenge – instantly recognisable and appears throughout the piece – well played and sung as well.

I didn’t listen to this one 3 years ago, I was jus a newbie probably and not yet entered the forum, so it’s new for me!
I know it’s a shame, but I never listened to this song before, so first of all thanks for sharing: I think your version is simply brilliant and inspired me to go check the original!
Beautiful vocals as always in your renditions and loved your strumming playing alternated with brilliant riffs on the acoustic!
Glad to hear you’re near to the full recovery, James!Guido

Always a joy to hear you play and sing James. Hope you are on the mend soon.

Well played, James. Strangely enough, that’s the first song that came into my head when I heard that the monthly challenge was about intro licks and hooks. Literally the first two bars will identify the song to most rock fans.

Good selection and example of a reoccurring hook throughout the song in CCR’s green river ! Played and sung in your unique style…top shelf James 🎶🎵💯

I always loved this song. And also your softer acoustic version of it, is pure joy to listen to, James.

Yup as soon as you hear it you know instantly what song it is.
Great cover sir.
Speedy recovery with the hand.
I’ve had a few injuries to that area over the years and it’s always frightening.

Oh no, that’s every guitar player’s nightmare. It’s like when knee issues ended my tennis career.
Setting the amazing vocal aside, the beauty of that groove you created was just perfection. Absolutely loved it.
Best wishes for your recovery.

I really hope it’s not a long lay off. Wishing you a speedy recovery and that the fretboard, and garden, are back on the agenda very soon.

Another great performance that met the challenge as the cherry on top. Your singing is even better than your playing, which is excellent.
Sorry about the hand issues. I get a cortisone shot in my left thumb every once in a while, but that approach won’t last forever. -

Hey James, hope you mend quickly. I have dupuytren’s contracture in my left hand so I know how frusterating it is. As always, your submission is first class….and your voice….wow! Cheers. Pap

Great hearing this again James, hope the wrist is healed soon and you’re playing again soon. The voice is like any other instrument, an a capella version of an old work song might keep your voice loose 🎙 😉

Hi James:
Very sorry that you’re dealing with hand issues. You’ve got my best wishes for continual healing and a full recovery. I got going with AM in response to breaking my right hand with a boxer’s fracture in 2021 (“my lucky break”) and hope you have a similarly great recovery. In the meantime, your post demonstrates and defines what is a GREAT GROOVE in terms of both guitar and vocals. I liked it so much I listened at least 4 times in more than one sitting and, of course, had to pick up my guitar to play along. Thanks for sharing this awesome performance! Cheers, Tom
