I’ve been thinking about picking up one of these mics/recording devices primarily for recording AM posts. I have learned from experience that I am just not that interested in putting much time and effort into improving my recording process . I would however like to improve the sound quality and consistency of my posts. I’m wondering if this device might be a good compromise. I’ve watched a few reviews, but I’d like to know if any of you have experience and what you think.

Hey Jeff, I don’t have any experience with the Audigo mic but the YT videos show it’s easy to use anywhere. You can only use it with an i phone as of now though. I use an mv88 mic with my i pad but the audigo with the app is a quick way to record up to 4 tracks. Let us know if you get one.

Thanks Mike, I think I will pull the trigger and get one. If I do, I’ll be sure to post a review.

It seems like a brilliant idea. I have a Shure MV-88 which plugs into my iPhone, but you still need to have the iPhone fairly close to the sound source. So to get more distance, I just bought a Zoom H1 Essential standalone mic. It works very well, but the problem for some people is that you have to post-process to sync the audio and video. The Audigo, however, does the processing in its own app and just merges the audio and video for you. The downside is you can’t use the iPhone’s Camera app to shoot the video, and the Audigo app doesn’t offer as much control of the video settings. I doubt if that matters to anybody but a professional photographer.
So, you can’t go wrong. Please buy one, try it out, and post your experience with it here. We are all ears. And eyes.

Ok, in the end I decided not to go with the Audiogo solution. I think the monthly subscription was the biggest turn off and I decided I would rather have a more versatile solution that would work better for electric guitar. Since I don’t really record outside my home, I decided the portability of the Audiogo was not really much of an advantage.
I ended up getting the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 studio setup (includes the digital audio interface, condenser mic and headphones). I’m using it with GarageBand and iMovie to produce my post recordings.
Set up was pretty easy and the results are a big improvement over just using my iPhone. I did have to upgrade my Mac and all the apps to support the HDR video recordings on my iPhone.
