It looks like they are now shutting down major cities in China, major airports here in the U.k. are introducing screenings from China, but with a 5 day incubation period of this virus then it may already be here.

The #1 most common tourists here in NZ are from China. And they fly in or come on a cruise ship to Auckland, then right away catch the ferry across the harbor to my village, which is the most popular tourist day trip in Auckland. I guess I’m doomed, unless I bail out and go north to our remote rural property and wait for it all to pass.

Hey Steve, just got this in from the Embassy in Tokyo.
Health Alert – U.S. Embassy Tokyo, Japan (January 23, 2020)Location: East Asia (China)
Event: Coronavirus Outbreak in China
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is closely monitoring an outbreak of a respiratory illness caused by the coronavirus that was first detected in Wuhan, China.
A number of countries, including the United States, have been actively screening incoming travelers from Wuhan and human infections with 2019-nCoV have been confirmed in Taiwan, Thailand, Japan, and South Korea. The United States announced its first infection with 2019-nCoV detected in a traveler returning from Wuhan on January 21, 2020.
For information and guidance regarding this disease outbreak, U.S. citizens in Japan are advised to consult the World Health Organization (WHO) and CDC websites. Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare is also closely monitoring the situation. The WHO provides country-specific disease outbreak news, including information about Japan.
Actions to Take: CDC recommendations include frequent thorough hand washing and cough etiquette (maintain distance, cover coughs and sneezes with disposable tissues or clothing, and wash hands).
Additionally, ensure you have had an influenza immunization this season to minimize the chances of getting flu that may mimic coronavirus infection.
For the most up-to-date information, please consult the CDC website (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/).

hopefully they are transparent.. I am not ordering any Amazon products from china including surgical masks .. I wonder if shipment boxes from china can spread the virus .. hopefully it needs a living host but if not, I wish to know // Pete, could you send a better update regarding what this flu like virus is like.. if it s like SARS ebola or this something worse?.. tia

what is the difference.. I am not certain about the facts of bacteria and viral molecular science ,.. if this is air born transmitted contagious , should shipping warehouses such as Amazon Ebay cosco etc .. shouldn’t they too have quarantine isolated warehouses for stocked products? .. this could be but is not yet considered or determined in American news medias.. I guess FDA covers all these concerns ?

Well, it was bound to happen. Really, now is the time to get serious about this. Keep in mind, we have subways here with millions of people on them daily.
Japan reports first domestic transmission of coronavirus
Tokyo’s mission to evacuate its nationals from Wuhan, the Chinese city at the center of a coronavirus outbreak, got underway Tuesday, as Japan reported its first case not linked to recent travel to China.
One of three new cases reported in Japan on Tuesday is a male bus driver in his 60s who lives in Nara Prefecture. The man did not travel to Wuhan but drove buses with tour groups from the city twice this month, officials said. The man is the first Japanese confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus while this is also the first human-to-human transmission confirmed in Japan.
The other two patients, a man and woman in their 40s, are from Wuhan and their conditions are not serious, according to the health ministry. Japan has now reported a total of seven cases.
Meanwhile, a chartered flight departed Tokyo later Tuesday for Wuhan, the Chinese city at the epicenter of the deadly outbreak.
Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi told reporters Tuesday that the plane would deliver masks and protective suits to Wuhan before carrying back some 200 people to Tokyo on Wednesday morning. About 650 Japanese have expressed a desire to return to Japan, and the government is making arrangements to send additional chartered flights to Wuhan, Motegi said.

I see on this morning’s news (3:50) that America has issued a no flights from Europe ( excluding the U.k.)for a 30 day period, possibly a step too late seeing as the virus is already in America.
We have it here in Scotland and while like everywhere else it has claimed lives, thankfully so far numbers are very low.

too many hungry people eating bats and black market wild animals carrying viruses.. it should be considered terrorism these wildlife black markets.. should be capital punishment from now on..because of a few illegal black markets..millions will be exposed. sure the poor people have no clue,, but they must be warned that next time it’s terrorism

How are folk coping with areas being in lockdown, I see from the news reports that many countries around the world are now at this stage to try and contain the virus, So far here in the U.K.measures like this have not yet been implimented though panic buying and stock piling by selfish folk is causing shortages for those in our communities who are elderly or infirm.

Hey Billy
Good to see you posting on this. Most people think it maybe wrong to post on this thread, but we all are like family here on Active Melody. The reason I made this a sticky is to be a helpful thread. We’ll all need to help out on this one. I now noticed Jonathan got around posting. He as we all know now lives in the hardest area hit with the corona virus. Of course, no matter what we want to say, politics will enter at sometime in the future of this thread and that can’t be helped. But if we just keep the tone down like it still is, this thread should help everyone out.
Right now PM Abe hasn’t declared a state of emergency and my thoughts are that this country needs to work itself into at a non panic state both mentally and physically . Tokyo has over 14 million people, we saw the lines for mask and toilet paper, but due to no panic now, toilet paper is well stocked. Mask, well, priority is now given to the military and businesses that deal with the public, but soon we’ll be seeing them in the stores once again.
It is necessary to wear a mask or a scarf while out shopping in my opinion and wear gloves while pumping your gas. (just buy them disposable ones you buy at the dollar store) So far here we went through panic stage 1 and it wasn’t much of a deal for those whose had the insight to prepare. My greatest concern is “quarantine ” to the house and being home bound. If one needs to leave, then one must have the permission, such as what is happening in Europe. Stage 2 panic here in Japan well be determined on how PM Abe handles the announcement of “state of emergency”. Personally, I think he is just waiting to see how the rest of the world is handling their crises of a state of emergency. Japanese govt. puts people’s well being 1st most of the time. Did we go shopping in case of a quarantine ? Well, I have to wait now till my SS comes in. Hopefully the US govt. will pay. LOL
Take care and take all precautions. The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete

The advice being given here in the U.K. is that only the correct type of mask( one which seals around mouth and nose) is of any use, it’s just been announced that the U.k. government will be making live daily broadcasts to update us ..
Mainland Europe is more or less in lockdown, Italy seem to be the worst hit with deaths of over 1500 reported.
I suppose the good thing is, with information coming from other countries it enhances future game plans to fight infection.
I’m expecting lockdown of the U.k to be announce in the next week or so as cases of the virus are rising faster than a brides night gown...Billy..

Today’s update:
Update : Tokyo Thursday March 19 time : noon time
March 19th, wow this is the date I left the military. Too old now to be called back, but I most certainly would go back in.
OK, here in Japan is like how the real world should be reacting. There is no panic. Cities are calm with people going about their business. No food shortage AT ALL. All our stores are fully stocked with tons of food on the shelves. Yes, we all went through “stage 1 panic attack”. But because we all calmed down there is community support groups helping out. One is the lunch meals for children at home. Some restaurants are now offering 1 dollars meals. The govt. just said something about paying the utilities ( for real, people, thousands and thousands of people are working part time and just don’t have the money now) but I don’t have and update on it.
I’ve been mentioning this for a few times: PLEASE DO NOT COME TO JAPAN
There are reasons for this and there just is too many for me to explain. People are trying to come to this country because they feel safe here. So far I have to agree with that thinking. But even now we shut our doors for the business we’ve had for nearly 3 decades. I do want to stress this: There is absolutely no “hysteria ” going on here.My update:
Of the 923 people infected in Japan and 923 travelers and returnees from China,
Hokkaido: 154, Hokkaido is not looking good at all
Aichi: 130, this figure worries me because of the fast increase of cases
Osaka: 117, hard to believe that figure
Tokyo: 111, at my age, I don’t believe in Santa Claus no more
Hyogo: 92,
60 in Kanagawa ,
35 in Saitama ,
33 in Chiba this is where Disneyland is.
, 22 in Niigata
, 21 in Kyoto
, 16 in Wakayama ,
12 in Kochi people,
Gunma Prefecture 10 people,
Mie Prefecture 9 people,
Nara Prefecture 8 people, lots of tourist businesses are losing big time here
Ishikawa Prefecture 7 people,
Kumamoto Prefecture 6 people, here we have a college with international students ( I don’t know about the situation with the foreign students and how they are affect , kind of too quiet about this one?
Nagano Prefecture 4 people,
Shiga Prefecture 4 people
4 people in Fukuoka , there are lot of international businesses here. this figure, again, I don’t believe in Santa Claus
3 people in Tochigi, 3 people in
Gifu, 3 people in
Shizuoka, 3 people in
Yamaguchi, 3 people in for Yamaguchi, 3 people , just one family (impossible to believe, no new numbers in 3 weeks, whose leg are they trying to pull. Actually Yamaguchi has many industries and an aging population
Ehime, 3 people in
Miyazaki,
3 people in Okinawa, wonder if they are testing people (thousands of Chinese have been there since last Nov.)
2 people in Akita, 2 people in
Fukushima, 2 people in
Ibaraki, 2 people in
Yamanashi
, 1 person in Miyagi, 1 person in
Fukui,
▽ 1 person in Hiroshima, 1 person in
Tokushima, 1 person in
Kagawa, 1 person in
Saga, 1 person in
Nagasaki, 1 person in
Oita,17 people including the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare’s staff and quarantine officers, and those who have been confirmed to be infected by airport quarantine.
According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, as of the 18th, the number of severely ill persons
was 46 people infected in Japan.Anyway people best to have a bicycle and go out and get some fresh spring time air.
TRY NOT TO GET ALL STRESSED OUT, ITS NOT WORTH

Friday here in the U.k. the government closed all bars, clubs and eateries, people are panic buying and stock piling when there is no need to do either, lots of people have been designated key workers, truck drivers, doctors, nurses, delivery drivers so life can go on without much disruption if you order food shopping online it will be delivered to your door step.
I’m still trying to work, but the customers are few and far between, being a sole trader mean so far there is no financial support for people like me in the gig economy..there are 5 million workers who have no option but to expose themselves to the virus on a daily basis.
The upside is we are in the western world, those poor sods who live in third world countries are going to see their loved ones decimated because they don’t have a healthcare structure..
I’m expecting a 14 day lockdown to be announced in the next few days as cases here are rising by the thousand, hopefully we can all get through this living nightmare relatively unscathed.. take care folks, be safe …..Billy..

That’s me finished work, I look after my old mom who is 90 and the government in the U.k. has said that everyone over the age of 70 should be in isolation for 3 months, I can’t risk bringing this virus into the house, so I’ve had to stop working.
I should have enough money to last about 2 months, because I’m what is termed a sole trader I get the minimum help from the state of £95 per week…anyway, needs must and all that… all you AM”ers wherever you are in the world Stay safe by keeping a distance of 6ft apart...Billy..

Hey Billy, hope you are wearing mask and that goes for the rest of us when outdoors. Very important.
Japan here is strangely quiet. But today Toyota shut down 5 factories here. I know they don’t make the parts that go into the dashboard electronics so the supply must have ran out. Last I heard they were trying to get other parts from Mexico.
Anyway I can’t drink no more. No more sake for this old man. Back to milk and graham crackers .The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete

It’s now Thursday morning here in the U.K., I ventured out yesterday for a hour to do some shopping for essentials, it’s only been 4 days since the lockdown was introduced here and already I’m beginning to go a little stir crazy, goodness knows how people who are house bound permanently cope.
As a treat tonight I’m planing on making a chicken Madras curry, it’s been awhile since I last cooked a curry so looking forward to that...Billy..

I’ve been staying well. I don’t think I know anyone personally who’s sick. I do know people who know someone sick. What follows is boilerplate I’m using for emails to friends and in social media.
If you’re concerned about C-19, this is the best practical info I’ve seen. It’s a mostly reassuring, factual 48-minute video by Dr. David Price of Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City with information about how to protect yourself and others, and what to do if you do get sick with COVID-19 (short story: the only time to go to the hospital is if you’re having trouble breathing). Take care, stay well!

Played with the Ventures with NMookie Edwards before Nookie died and before JD got the covid-19 he played with a Ventures Tribute band. check him out https://youtu.be/c9LB4_03VDY

The U.S. Department of State advises all U.S. citizens abroad to return to the United
States as quickly as possible or be prepared to remain overseas for an indefinite period. From
Japan, commercial flight options back to the United States continue to exist, though with
significantly reduced capacity. We strongly recommend taking advantage of these commercial
flights immediately unless you are prepared to remain in Japan indefinitely. Airline capacity
reductions and travel restrictions can be implemented at any time. Japan, like countries
worldwide, is denying entry to, or imposing strict quarantines on arriving travelers.Health Alert – U.S. Embassy Tokyo (April 1, 2020)
Location: Japan
Effective from midnight on April 3, 2020, Japan will bar admission to travelers who have recently visited any country that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has designated ‘Level 3’ for infectious disease concerns, which includes the United States. Travelers from the United States are not permitted to enter Japan and should not board flights. For details and exemptions, please refer to the Japan National Tourism Organization’s website.
At this time, Japanese authorities advise that passengers transiting in Tokyo’s Narita or Haneda airports without clearing immigration will still be allowed to proceed to their onward destination. Passengers will not be permitted to transit between airports or from an international flight to a domestic flight.
U.S. citizens who are considering returning to the United States are urged to work with their airlines to make travel arrangements while limited commercial flights are still available. Due to a reduction in customer demand, commercial aviation route networks between the United States continue to diminish. Travelers currently in Japan seeking return fights to the United States should immediately consult with their air carrier(s) regarding possible flight rescheduling and/or cancellations.
The Japan National Tourism Organization maintains up-to-date information on screening and quarantine measures for travelers. They also operate a 24/7 visitor hotline, available in English. To call from Japan: 050-3816-2787; from overseas: +81-50-3816-2787. The Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare also has a 24/7 hotline at +81-3-3595-2176 with English-speaking operators, and has a Q&A on the new measures. Residents of Tokyo, should check the Tokyo Metropolitan Government website for information in English on COVID-19.
The U.S. Embassy issued a letter regarding COVID-19 to U.S. citizen English teachers and advisors in Japan, which can be found here.
All U.S. Mission Japan facilities remain open and staffed and U.S. Mission Japan personnel are following United States and Japanese government recommendations regarding social distancing and minimizing non-essential travel.
Global Level 4 Health Advisory – Do Not Travel: The Department of State has issued a Global Level 4 Health Advisory for COVID-19.
CDC Travel Notice for Japan: On March 21, U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a Level 3 Warning (Avoid Nonessential Travel) for COVID-19 in Japan.

Yeah pat, wishing your friend a speedy recovery, dangerous times we are living in just now.
We are now in week 2 of lockdown, just before the end of march the u.k. government announced a package to support the 5 million u.k. gig economy workers, 80% of our monthly income but wont be paid out until June so i’m having to claim or instigate a claim for state welfare support but they are backlogged trying to process 90,000 new claims each day…

Update: April 4, 2020 Saturday Tokyo time: (don’t worry about it, doesn’t matter any more )
It’s the weekend now and people are asked to stay home, but will they with all the cherry blossoms blooming now across the nation. I guess I could take the chance and see, but what for. I already know, outside the big cities, its business as usual in many places .
Here are some highlights: Most of these come from the news lines on the net.
1. This is the big one everyone is talking about. Stay tune on this. I wonder if US Pharmaceuticals is stopping the awareness of this. Japan to give virus-hit nations Avigan for free ..The Japanese government plans to provide nations hit by the coronavirus pandemic with the anti-flu drug Avigan developed by a Japanese chemical firm.
Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga told reporters on Friday that the government has so far received requests for the drug from about 30 countries.
Researchers in China say that Avigan proved effectiveness in clinical trials with people infected with the coronavirus.3. I think Trump knows about the Aviagan drug. Hopefully his hands are not tied on this one. If so, like I said, America is doomed.
4. Tokyo governor lists steps if emergency declared. Those in Tokyo, if they haven’t left the city by now, it may just be a bit too late. And yes, I can see the restrictions of “sorry , no gasoline for people leaving Tokyo” You all realize there are neary 25 million or so people in Tokyo and surrounding areas. It can get real bad if people start leaving all at once.
5. Asian airlines to make further flight cuts. I knew that a few days ago. I think Thailand just announced “no entry” from some countries. Feel sorry for those that just wanted to have fun under the sun and said “screw it” I’m going anyway a month ago. Sure hope they have a credit card that still works. Hong Kong’s Cathay Pacific Airways announced on Friday that it will cancel about 97 percent of its passenger flights scheduled for April.
Thai Airways International has announced that it will suspend all international passenger flights until May 31.6. Japan: Govt., LDP agree on $2,800 handout over outbreak. I’m afraid my family doesn’t qualify for it. Sure hope we qualify for the US hand out. I mentioned that we are debt free, just have the regular bills, but it still takes about 1700 USD a month to live. Can sardines, anyone.
7. Last year, 32 million foreign visitors traveled to Japan, spending roughly 45 billion dollars. Well, if you go to the tourist areas now, you’ll have to walk from your hotel, seems the buses and their companies have all but closed down. It really is a depression at the moment here in many industries. Soon to be at your doorway also.
8. Americans warned to leave Japan or risk long stay as virus cases surge. I mentioned I’m stuck here indefinitely.
9. Coronavirus cases in Japan top 3,000 after record 357 new infections reported Friday. Actually it is higher today. I posted that we will be seeing like 1000 to up to 4000 cases per day, why, the govt. has only tested about 35000 people. So what’s the math on that. See where it goes in time. 7 more days people and … MIM’s street talk, gosh I hope not, but people are still riding the trains and subways. Crazy I tell ya.
11. A government panel of experts is warning the nation’s health care system may collapse if the sharp increase in COVID-19 cases seen recently in urban areas continues, singling out Tokyo, Kanagawa, Aichi, Osaka and Hyogo as areas of particular concern.
12. New corona infection 6 people confirmed in Okinawa Prefecture. 18 cases now. Growing way too fast.

Location: Japan
Date: April 6, 2020
Certain areas of Japan continue to experience significant increases in COVID-19 cases. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe announced April 6 that he intends to declare on April 7 a state of emergency regarding the coronavirus pandemic for seven areas of Japan – Tokyo, Kanagawa, Chiba, Saitama, Osaka, Hyogo and Fukuoka – for a period of around one month. After the emergency declaration is issued, prefectural governors in the areas designated will have the authority to take emergency measures. Please refer to Japanese government announcements for up-to-date information on protective measures being taken in the area where you reside. U.S. citizens should be aware that U.S. Forces Japan has declared a public health emergency for bases and facilities in the Kanto Plain. Read more here. Residents of Tokyo should check the Tokyo Metropolitan Government website for updates and information in English on COVID-19. The U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires issued a video message April 2 to U.S. citizens in Japan in light of the global spread of COVID-19.
Japan Immigration Notice: 90-day Visa Status Extensions
Japan’s immigration authorities announced April 3, 2020 the extension of visitor visas for foreign nationals in Japan for an additional 90 days beyond the initial expiration date. This 90-status extension includes U.S. citizens admitted to Japan for 90 days as temporary visitors (visa waiver). U.S. citizens who want to extend their status in Japan, beyond the initial expiration, may visit an immigration office after their original status expires, but before 90 days after that initial expiration date. Immigration authorities further advise against visiting their offices in person at this time if possible due to crowding. If you are concerned about extending your visa status in Japan, please refer to Japan’s Immigration Services Agency website for guidance.
The Immigration Service Agency is posting updates on new policies in response to COVID-19 on this webpage. Please direct Japan immigration and extension-of-stay in Japan-related questions to Japan’s Immigration Information Center at 0570-013-904 (from overseas +81-3-5796-7112), the nearest immigration office or email: info-tokyo@i.moj.go.jp. Contact information for immigration offices throughout Japan is available here. Policies are changing quickly and Japan’s Immigration Services Agency is the authority on such matters.
Border Control Measures
Japan has barred admission to travelers who have recently visited any country that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has designated “Level 3” for infectious disease concerns, which includes the United States. Travelers from the United States are not permitted to enter Japan and should not board Japan-bound flights. For details and exemptions, please refer to:
• The Japan National Tourism Organization’s website.
• An April 3, 2020 Ministry of Justice document that describes “special exceptional circumstances” and specific rules that apply to foreign nationals who are permanent residents of Japan or immediate family members of Japanese citizens.
• Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs website on strengthened border control and visa restrictions put in place due to COVID-19.
Decrease in International Flights
Only about 10 percent of the pre-COVID-19 commercial flight capacity between Japan and the United States remains in operation. While we cannot predict what will happen next, it is reasonable to expect further reductions in commercial air service in the near- and medium-term. Travelers currently in Japan seeking return flights to the United States, or any U.S. citizens who are considering flying to the United States, are urged to consult with their air carriers on arrangements to depart immediately while commercial flights are still available. U.S. citizens should bear in mind that a decrease in flights to the United States may make it more difficult or even impossible to return to the United States for a family emergency in a timely manner. U.S. citizens who are not planning to return to the United States should be prepared to remain indefinitely in Japan. More generally, U.S. citizens who reside abroad should avoid all international travel.
At this time, Japanese authorities advise that passengers transiting Tokyo’s Narita or Haneda airports without clearing immigration will still be allowed to proceed to their onward destinations in other countries. Passengers will not be permitted to transit between airports or transfer from an international flight to a domestic flight.
The Japan National Tourism Organization maintains up-to-date information on screening and quarantine measures for travelers. It also operates a 24/7 visitor hotline, available in English. To call from Japan: 050-3816-2787; from overseas: +81-50-3816-2787.
The Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare also has a 24/7 hotline at +81-3-3595-2176 with English-speaking operators, and has a Q&A on the new measures.

I also wonder if the American Bill has something like that in it ? Probably not.
21. About 51 patients classed as having been cured in South Korea have tested positive again, the CDC said in a briefing on Monday. Rather than being infected again, the virus may have been reactivated in these people, given they tested positive again shortly after being released from quarantine, said Jeong Eun-kyeong, director-general of the Korean CDC.Well, that’s it for this Easter Sunday.
Take care everyone.

Something to think about:
I’ve been mentioning the the 37 to 42 known days of people being asymptomatic, which can be found I believe about the Chinese stating it and was on Japanese TV.
The point I want to make about this point is the ” time zone that occurs with the major calendar events around the world.1. The Milan , Italy football event (sorry I don’t have the date on it ) but how many days later did Northern Italy get hit with the virus
2. This is Japan, my point of the 37 to 42 days then an explosion of infections.
What I’m stating here is the silent time zone for viewing the cherry blossoms and how it effects the cases of infections.3. Now this is for New York. Just keep in mind, before the virus hit, how many people were treated for the flu? I don’t know, but it would be interesting to find that out and why after the 42 days which I mention suddenly the virus appears .

Lock down here in the U.K. has just been extended by another 3 weeks, the internet being the main connection is now showing signs of mental distress and sane normal folk are turing into wacko’s.
We are getting news reports that China is now experiencing a second wave of the virus, Personally I think china have a lot to answer for in their handling and reporting of what is now a world wide issue.
I honestly think 3rd world countries will see major devistation happen to their populations...Billy..

The cash payouts that I see from 3 countries now is only “a stall” as to what will soon take place. Japan now is on a total country “State of Emergency”. Actually from what I can tell as of today, many areas are “dead zones”. I don’t know the unemployment numbers in this country, but I understand like 26 million are unemployed in America. No country can remain stable with such high unemployment. Yes, unemployment benefits are available, but not to all. Tough times around the world. Also I heard the US is no longer issuing passports?

Update: May 6, 2020 Wednesday Tokyo time: 11:30 am
I mention earlier on one of my post that I’d try to make my updates a bit more international and perhaps more on “what’s happening in everyone’s front yard” type of post. The reason is because: Chinese updates are rare and Japanese updates are beginning not to be of much of interest these days to what is happening to the outside world, and the events in Japan (somewhat untruthful as far as reporting cases and deaths of the virus ) still hold a lot of weight, but not much international interest in this country.
I want to include some previous post. The reason is, some of you may have missed it and has some of this taken place since my last post on April 30th.
This may take place worldwide so if this stuff does happen, we’ll have to make a life’s adjustment to it.1. I don’t know about schools around the world but it may seem possible that will take a new turn on education at the 5th grade level. Why, classes will be structured in 3 ways, one is the local economy (education focus locally) (nothing new here, but it won’t start at the junior college level. The second way of education will be nurturing the talent of the student , again at the 5th grade level. The 3 level will be a “voluntary forced education” to assure employment in ones aptitude.
2. Life WILL NOT go back to what it once was. ( I hope you all understand that ) This will vary from country to country.
3. It will be nearly impossible to leave the country you are now in unless you are politically connected/ military connected.
4. For the States, entry to another State will have to be approved. ( Transportation hubs will have special privileges )
5. Its best if possible to leave any major city. As I mentioned before, major cities will become open door prisons and that is a fact. It won’t be the type that you see with bars though. Expect loss of freedom and strict curfew this coming summer in the States.
The above is and it is very possible to happen in your country also. Just today, Russia closed down Moscow
My current in the making
1. Look at #2 below. This will start at the interstate hwys in the States.
2. As stated in one of my post, these will be worn by trackers across America. It will detect who has a fever and possibly other test.
See picture below.1. The US government should answer ten questions, provide explanations to the world, the Chinese newspaper concludes.
Why doesn’t the U.S. government provide comprehensive protection for medical workers? Why were those reporting facts fired?
There are over 20,000 deaths from the seasonal flu in America starting last September, how many of those cases were the novel coronavirus undetected?
Why did Washington suddenly shut down its bioweapons lab in Fort Detrick, Maryland last July?
Some senators offloaded shares while playing down the threats of the disease. Why aren’t they being held accountable?
Why did the U.S. downplay the pandemic when it knew the disease would develop into one?
When did the earliest COVID-19 infection happen in the U.S.? Why doesn’t Washington get experts to trace it?
What secret research is being carried out at the biolabs established by the U.S. in former Soviet states?
Why was Brett Crozier relieved of his command after saving the lives of thousands of soldiers on board?
Will the U.S. disclose its pandemic control timeline to the world?
What effective measures have the U.S. adopted in the last two months other than the restrictions on travel with China?2. Next week, due to complications of the epidemiological situation, Moscow is introducing a system of passes for moving around the city, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said in a televised address to Muscovites.
3. Be prepared to wear this: its a wrist device that will tell you if and when you are infected.
Pictured below.4. A number of Japanese groups offering humanitarian assistance abroad have recently been forced to evacuate staff due to the spread of the novel coronavirus, casting a shadow over their support for refugees and poverty-stricken regions.
5.
Mahan Airlines has been sanctioned by the US because it was secretly transporting weapons and prominent figures for the Revolutionary Guard to Irans operations in Syria, Lebanon and Iraq – countries that also have strong ties with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.
By using flight data and talking to sources in Lebanon and Iraq, BBC Arabic was able to confirm that the first cases of Covid-19 in these two countries were for travellers on Mahan flights.6. I think Mexico is going to catch up with the world: On May 5 , health authorities confirmed over 26000 Covid-19 cases and 2500 deaths in Mexico.
Update: May 6, 2020 Tokyo Wednesday Time: 11:30 am
The total number of people who have been infected in Japan is
4712 in Tokyo ( remember , they aren’t testing the general public yet, and these are reported govt. hospital cases )
1686 in Osaka ( its a bit hard to believe since Osaka is not a very well type of city that obeys the govt. )
1121 in Kanagawa
910 in Saitama
891 in Hokkaido ( labor shortage in the dairy industry here )
858 in Chiba ( lots of rural area here and farming also )
Hyogo 674
Fukuoka Prefecture 649 ( if you been following me, I said this will be a cluster troubled area in the future )
Aichi Prefecture 498
Kyoto Prefecture 338 ( city of tourism, can pick up once people start going out again )
Ishikawa Prefecture 268
Toyama Prefecture 216
Ibaraki Prefecture 168
Hiroshima Prefecture 165 (surfing in this area, going to be bad in June )
Gifu Prefecture 150
Gunma prefecture 146 people
Okinawa prefecture 142 people (wow, I remember the hysteria when only 3 people infected, expect many more )
Fukui prefecture 122 people
Shiga prefecture 97 people

Update: May 10, 2020 Sunday Tokyo time: noon time
I mention earlier on one of my post that I’d try to make my updates a bit more international and perhaps more on “what’s happening in everyone’s front yard” type of post. How can I improve my updates ?
More people in this country now believe the UK has performed worse than Italy, Spain and France in the Covid-19 crisis than say it has done better than its European neighbours, according the latest Opinium poll for the Observer.
Italy is set to lift its ban on religious services due to COVID-19, weeks earlier than expected, following a Thursday meeting between the nation’s bishops and Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte.
California’s Huntington Beach saw another wave of protesters on Saturday as discontent grew in response to the state’s stay-at-home order during the coronavirus pandemic.
The New York state governor has warned of a rare inflammatory syndrome among children infected with the coronavirus. He said state health officials have reviewed 73 cases in which children exposed to the virus also exhibited symptoms similar to those of Kawasaki disease, including inflammation in organs and blood vessels.
Recently, about 20,000 new infections have been confirmed in the United States each day.
Japan is conducting 188 PCR tests per 100,000 people, compared with rates of 3,159 in Italy and 3,044 in Germany, data from experts advising the government showed on Monday.
This is good news : In recent days, White House officials have moved to seize control of a little-known board that administers the $557 billion federal retirement program for most active and retired federal employees and military members, with some aides eager to halt the flow of billions of dollars into an index fund that includes Chinese companies, according to two White House officials and an outside Trump adviser involved in the discussions.
The Food and Drug Administration on May 9 announced emergency authorization for antigen tests developed by Quidel Corp. of San Diego. The test can rapidly detect fragments of virus proteins in samples collected from swabs swiped inside the nasal cavity, the FDA said in a statement.
On Friday morning, VA officials announced that the total number of coronavirus cases within their health system rose to 10,539 individuals. That’s up nearly 1,000 since Tuesday.
4900 people have tested positive in Japan. Been only 3 months and that’s all that has been tested. (don’t this is very accurate )
Traces of the novel coronavirus have been found in the semen of several infected men, according to a new study out of China’s Shangqiu Municipal Hospital that was published in the JAMA Network Open. Of the 38 men hospitalized with laboratory-confirmed COVID-19, doctors were able to determine that six of the patients, ranging in ages 20 to 60, had the virus in their semen. Four were still considered very sick with the contagion, while the other two were on the road to recovery.
The total number of people that got infected with Covid-19 passed another sombre milestone, surpassing 4 million, with over 1.3 million of those hailing from the US, Johns Hopkins University reported.
Russia: One hundred and four people died over the past 24 hours, bringing the total toll to 1,827.
The average number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 is +/- 80,000 per day since the peak at the end of March and is currently at over 3 million confirmed cases. 211,000 of the 3 million have died, however, most Western countries agree that the true number is most probably quite a bit higher. The official death rate is around 7% at the moment but not all deaths have been recorded, care homes, for example, people who died at home etc, so we can safely say the death rate is more like 10%.Eight in 10 illegal entrants at the border are being turned back quickly because of policies implemented to combat the coronavirus pandemic, the acting deputy secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said.
This is what happens when tourism dies off in your city or country. Omiyage is tourist food: Large amounts of omiyage in danger of being discarded due to decrease in tourism, and sellers are sending out an SOS “We need Okinawan’s to eat these, now more than ever.”
Mexico: 34000 cases of infections. 3400 have died of the infections.
Plane carrying 10 million face masks arrives in Scotland from China
Covid-19 is poised to cut a swathe through Asia’s cramped, underfunded prisons but the true extent of the crisis may never be known.
During a January 21 conversation – one week after the WHO assured the world there was ‘no clear evidence of human-to-human transmission’ – Xi reportedly asked Tedros not to reveal that the virus was in fact transmissible between humans, and to delay declaring that the coronavirus had become a pandemic – despite the virus qualifying as one by the WHO’s own former guidelines.
And while the WHO announced on the 22nd that data collected through their own investigation “suggests that human-to-human transmission is taking place in Wuhan,” which they said more analysis was required “to understand the full extent,” they waited all the way until March 11 to declare the virus a pandemic.Japan’s update : May 9th Tokyo time: 9pm

Update May 12, 2020 Tuesday Tokyo time: 7 pm
Hello Active Melody members. Well, a lot has been happening around many places and it seems like more govt. are letting businesses open with very strict restrictions. Which is good. But I saw some videos about people are not listening to restrictions and going about as nothing serious can happen to them.
Keep in mind that there is “NO SECOND WAVE” Its just a bunch of people that are not using common sense.1. Italy: Psychologists have teamed up from the public, private and NGO sectors, offering their help free of charge in response to the mental health emergency.
2. Disney has reopened its Shanghai Disneyland park to a reduced number of visitors, ending a more than three-month closure caused by the coronavirus outbreak.
3. China news: On Monday, it reported 17 new cases nationally – the highest daily increase since 28 April – bringing the total number of cases to 82,918, with the death toll at 4,633.
This is why the virus is here to stay. Because of selfish crazy assho$2s like this joker: South Korea says the number of coronavirus infections connected to nightclubs in Seoul has risen to 93.The flare-up is linked to people who visited the Itaewon district on May 2, during a four-day holiday.Ministry officials told reporters on Tuesday that the new cases include nightclub customers and family members. They are asking everyone to immediately take PCR tests, but they are still unable to contact more than 3,000 people. Officials in Seoul say the tests can be taken anonymously and people who intentionally avoid testing can be fined about 1,600 dollars.4. Don’t do it folks: Japan’s Prime Minister Abe Shinzo says clinical trials of a vaccine for the coronavirus are expected to begin in the country as early as July.Abe made the disclosure at a Lower House Budget Committee session on Monday. He noted that vaccine tests in humans have already started in the United States.Abe said vaccines are being developed at several institutions in Japan, including the University of Tokyo, Osaka University and the National Institute of Infectious Diseases.
5. Toyota to dive 80% in profit: Toyota Motor Corp. on Tuesday forecast a sharp drop in sales and operating profit over the coming year as the car giant suffers from the “wide-ranging, significant and serious” fallout from the coronavirus pandemic that has shredded the global auto market.
6. The Treasury Department and the IRS are urging taxpayers who want to get their economic impact payments directly deposited to their bank accounts to enter their information online by Wednesday.
7. The government has sent out about 130 million payments in the first four weeks of the program by both direct deposit and by mail.
8. The IRS said Monday that people should use the “Get My Payment ” tool on the IRS website by noon on Wednesday to provide their direct deposit information.9. After that time, the agency will begin preparing millions of files to send to Bureau of Financial Services for paper checks that will begin arriving through late May and into June. The government cannot provide direct deposit once the process of sending a paper check has commenced.
10. The Get My Payment tool can be used to check on the status of a payment or provide direct deposit information. It has not always operated smoothly, but the IRS said many of its early glitches have been resolved.
11. Any U.S. citizen with a valid Social Security number who makes up to $75,000 will get a payment of $1,200; married couples who file jointly and earn less than $150,000 will get $2,400. The payment steadily declines for those who make more, and phases out for those who earn more than $99,000; or $198,000 for married couples. The thresholds are different for those who file as head of household. Parents will get $500 for each eligible child as well.
12. The government will automatically send payments based on the information provided in 2019 or 2018 tax returns. Automatic payments will also be sent to those receiving Social Security retirement, disability benefits, Railroad Retirement benefits, Veterans Affairs benefits or Supplemental Security Income soon, according to the IRS.
13. MIM’s “Street Talk”: As I stated, 95% of businesses doing business in China will remain doing business in China. Nice to be in love with your economic enemy. :
The Ministry of Commerce told some key foreign companies they can apply for exemptions to the entry ban if they want to get executives back into China, the people said, asking not to be identified because the matter hasn’t been made public. They would still serve a mandatory quarantine, one of the people said.
The move is the latest sign that China, which has banned almost all foreigners from entering since late March, is taking steps to reopen its borders for business. China has had some success in containing the outbreak, which first emerged in the central city of Wuhan, and businesses such as Shanghai Disneyland reopened on Monday, with health checks and social-distancing measures.14. Russia: Over the past 24 hours, 10,559 new cases of coronavirus infection have been detected in 82 regions of Russia.
15. Mexico: 36400 cases of infections and 3600 deaths. I’m trying to get info for the Tijuana area. I wonder if this is hard hit also.
This is good news for Hong Kong: Hong Kong again reported no new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, leaving the city’s total number of infections at 1,047.The last confirmed cases – three of them, all imported – came on Sunday, while the most recent locally transmitted infection was reported 23 days ago.Update: May 12, 2020 Tuesday Tokyo time: 7pm

Update May 17, 2020 Sunday 10 pm Tokyo
I mention earlier on one of my post that I’d try to make my updates a bit more international and perhaps more on “what’s happening in your front yard” type of post. The reason is because: Chinese updates are rare and Japanese updates are beginning not to be of much of interest these days to what is happening to the outside world. So if any of you have suggestion on how I should add more to my updates, just let me know.
1. Brazil’s Health Ministry registered 14,919 new confirmed cases in the prior 24 hours, taking the total to 233,142, behind only the U.S., Russia and the U.K. Brazil has done just a fraction of the testing seen in those three countries.
2. This was one of my MIM’s Street Talk on how this will become world-wide. Funny because I was kind of laughed at.
A law enforcement officer wearing the helmet could do any of the following: Measure the temperature of a specific individual; measure the temperatures of people passing by in larger crowds; scan a person’s QR code for personal data; recognize license plates; spot people in the dark; or recognize people using facial recognition.
( I just want to say stay tune for MIM’s June 12th “a day of awakening” coming. )
3. This is why I recommend not to go to bowling alleys or bars or even restaurants.
The South Korean government says the number of coronavirus cases linked to a cluster that originated in Seoul nightclubs has risen to 168. ( see people, the virus is so easy to catch while indoors )4. The impact of the new coronavirus pandemic is likely to be hard on international air travel, with recovery only projected to come in 2024.
The International Air Transport Association, or IATA, released new analysis of air travel demand on Wednesday.
The association said that it expects overall passenger demand, both domestic and international, in 2021 to be 24 percent below 2019 levels. ( remember I said we will have 3 years of uncertainty, I guess my street talk was off , but then again it is over a month old, times do change quickly )5. This was my Street Talk that I didn’t share publicly with you folks on the forum, but I sent out a few PM’s regarding this. The reason was, I didn’t want to be known as one full of BS. But here it is now people, no longer MIM’s Street Talk: The virus that causes COVID-19 can be present in the semen of patients who have the coronavirus, as well as those recovering from it, according to a recent study published in JAMA Network Open.
Fifty men were enrolled in the study’s testing, however only 38 were able to provide a semen sample.
Twenty-three of the participants who were able to provide a semen sample recovered from their COVID-19 infection. Two of these recovered patients had COVID-19 in their semen, which is particularly noteworthy, the study said.6. Five sailors from the embattled aircraft carrier Theodore Roosevelt who had previously tested positive for Covid-19 retested positive this week, officials confirmed Friday.
The sailors had previously returned to the ship, which has been sidelined in Guam as leadership works to get the crew free of the novel coronavirus and back to work.7. There have been 281,752 cases of coronavirus infections reported in Russia so far and 2,631 deaths.
8. Today, all the Israeli insurance companies no longer cover travel to the United States!
9. What will it take to let a tourist enter the country? Look at Austria, which recently unveiled a brand-new concept: Travelers wanting to enter Austria and avoid a two-week quarantine are charged approximately $200 to prove they are free of COVID-19. If travelers elect not to pay, they must go into quarantine. It is a three-hour test that is done upon arrival and the tourist must wait for the results.

Corona Virus update: June 27, 2020 Saturday Tokyo time: 7 pm
I’ll start out with some international news and finish up with Japan. The news about the virus is moving very fast. I can only say, try not to travel. When out shopping, try to go when foot traffic is low. Of course we now know about the masks and its importance of wearing one.
Please keep in mind that numbers become real when you are you know someone comes down with the virus. We all understand that we all are on the frontline of this invisible contagious virus.
1. MONDRAGONE, Italy — The governor of a southern Italian region insisted on Friday that residents of an apartment complex quarantine inside for 15 days, not even venturing out to buy food, after dozens of COVID-19 cases among Bulgarian seasonal farm workers and Italians who live there were confirmed.
Wearing a mask to discourage virus spread, Campania Gov. Vincenzo De Luca told reporters that the national civil protection agency should deliver groceries to the estimated 700 occupants of the apartments in Mondragone, a seaside town about 50 kilometers (32 miles) northwest of Naples.
2. YONGSAN GARRISON, South Korea – The U.S. military said Saturday that it will ease anti-coronavirus restrictions for troops and other personnel on this Army garrison in Seoul, but unauthorized travel to the capital from other bases remains off-limits.
The move, which begins at noon Monday, came more than a month after U.S. Forces Korea lifted restrictions for bases elsewhere in South Korea but maintained them for Yongsan because of continued cluster infections there.
The number of Defense Department-affiliated personnel diagnosed with COVID-19 this week jumped 18 percent from last week’s numbers, according to the latest data.
That came out to 2,345 new cases this week, up from 1,793 last week. Of this week’s new cases, 1,782 were among troops, a jump of 20-percent over the previous week.
The Department of Veterans Affairs this week reached a series of new, grim milestones related to the coronavirus pandemic, including topping 20,000 cases of the fast-spreading illness since the nationwide crisis began.
On Friday, department officials reported that they have recorded at least 20,509 cases of coronavirus among patients since early March, when the outbreak began to spread across the United States. The total represents about 7 percent of all individuals tested in the Veterans Health System.
The European Union moved closer to recommending that travelers from the U.S. shouldn’t be allowed to enter the bloc even after July 1, according to a draft decision being considered by governments.
THIS IS SOMETHING WE SHOULD BE AWARE OF:
An economic collapse is inevitable. The situation is unlikely to improve either until an effective vaccine appears or the virus changes its “behavior”.According to Dmitry Ovsyannikov, the head of the pediatric department at the RUDN Medical Institute, said that it goes about the coronavirus-related multisystem inflammatory syndrome that affects children. To date, 600 cases of the disease have been reported in patients in the UK, France, the USA and Italy.
The US yesterday recorded its third-day running of new cases with more than 45,000 new cases, beating the old record recorded the day before when 40,000 new cases were revealed. Total deaths in the US from the virus is at 125,000 thousand from nearly 2,467,837 cases, more than any other country. In Texas, Florida and Arizona, reopening plans have been paused due to a surge in cases. Health officials in the US estimate the true number of cases is likely to be 10 times higher than the reported figure.
Brazil’s unrelenting surge continues with 47,000 new cases reported there yesterday bringing the total number of cases to 1,274,974 with 56,000 of them dying. India had its record number of cases yesterday topping almost 20,000. In Europe, France had a spike yesterday just days after an easing of lockdowns. Turkey appears to be heading for a second wave too after the virus appeared to be dwindling there in early June.
Globally, there are currently more than 140 vaccines being studied for Covid-19, of which 13 are in the clinical evaluation stage, according to the World Health Organization.
India: An inexpensive, widely used steroid dexamethasone was included in the treatment protocols for COVID-19 patients in moderate to severe stages of illness among other therapeutic measures by the Union health ministry on Saturday. The updated protocol includes the advice to use dexamethasone as an alternative choice to methylprednisolone for managing moderate to severe cases of COVID-19.
Japan’s health authorities reported 57 new coronavirus cases and four deaths on Tuesday. The number of confirmed infections stands at 18,034, excluding cases from the Diamond Princess cruise ship.

Seems to be a little light at the end of the tunnel here in Scotland, no new cases reported in the last 3 days. Of course that doesn’t take into account that weekend figures are normally released with Mondays figures.
Personally i’m thinking that what we are seeing now is in essence the “eye of the storm”, because of the recent lifting of restrictions and idiots out en mass demonstrating about one thing or another then 3 weeks from now we will be back to square one.
Other parts of the U.K. are seeing some regions being locked down as cases have spiked and if one thing has shown with this virus is that we cant stop it from spreading, we would have to close borders to every county and also countries world wide but that isnt going to happen...Billy..

So here we are all these months later, Scotland has now recorded 8 consecutive days without any covid related deaths, things are getting back to a semblance of normality with shops, pubs and eateries opened again.
Im hoping to get back to work on Monday, its been a bit of a slog with next to no income coming in, so will be nice to be back out and earning again.
Hopefully its not the eye of the storm....Billy..

Some news to update, the oil city of Aberdeen in Scotland has been re-lockedown due to 76 new cases of 19.
While I was typing this there has been a news report from New Zealand, 4 new cases in one household, as yet they have not traced where it came from…
19 is still out there doing its thing, be careful folks...Billy..

Holiday travellers have often acted irresponibly during their vacation, mingling without protection and such. Now they are coming back and reproduction rates are rising.
A bit surprising to see the cases in NZ. I am curious how that could have happened. Too bad to see that. Kiwis had been doing such a great job at fighting c19. -

Thats us here in Glasgow back in a partial lockdown, cases are rising fast since they opened up flights to other parts of europe, pubs and schools are open again to, we all knew it was coming and those of us who knuckled down and followed the isolation lockdown rules are feeling pretty much p***ed off about this.

Hi Pete, we have now seen the largest virus numbers today since this wgole saga began, so now its not just the city where i live in partial lockdown but the whole of the U.K., We just knew this was going to happen when they reopened schools, pubs and restaurants, all these stupid protesters out there marching for nothing of great importance have also been the cause of the spread, God alone knows where or how this is going to end but i can see things getting much worse now we are moving closer to winter and the seasonal ‘flu that brings with it..

Got Covid 19 in the middle of August, did not need hospitalization and recovered by the end of the month. Even if it was mild they have been quite hard days

In Belgium we have the highest number/ 100000 In Europe. The numbers are diminishing the last few days.
it has been scientifically researched, it is not the strict measures that harm the economy, but the number of infections. Our previous government did not dare to take strict measures and danced with the virus. if they had acted harshly for a short time in early September, the damage would have been much less. both for the number of dead and very sick and for the economy. the new government is doing better for the time being.
Lets hoop they keep on doing the right measures. -

Looks like there might be some good news on the horizon with the vaccine tests showing one of them being 90% effective, course this new strain of virus in Denmark is somewhat worring as its being transfered from mink to humans.. Still in a semi-restricted lockdown here in Scotland, Ive not worked since March and all my rainy day money is starting to run out..

Of the 94 that were tested positive on that test the percentage of them were given the vaccine and a percentage of them were given a placebo for the vaccines.
Unfortunately for us, Pfizer and the German company are not giving us the numbers of which ones tested positive and which one tested positive of the placebos participants of the 94 that they are releasing the results on.
So I really feel the 90% effectiveness is a false statement.
I think there were 34,500 that participated in this test of the vaccine. Also I just noticed on the phone to get the latest post you have to scroll down all the way down to the bottom and it’s kind of strange that there’s not one page or two pages or three pages that one can go to immediately.
Do you guys have this on the your laptop also or is it just for the phone only. The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete

Yeah I’m starting to hear a lot of people don’t really want to take the vaccine whether afraid of it on the side effects or they just don’t know whether it’s good or bad.

Yes thats right, the vaccine will be offered to people. I for one am up for it, the sooner i can get out of this blasted house then the better, only thing that worries me though is if the vaccines are as good as they say and protect those who have it, then where does that leave those who dont take up the offer and this thing still has a breeding ground to mutate over and over…

If it is a flu strain then chances are of the future mutations may require a new type/updated vaccination. I’m not too hip on it actually. But I’ve never been sick either. No flu, no colds.
but its -4 tonight…yikesThe melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete

Must admit that I’m lucky in that I very rarely get a cold and I’ve never had the -flu. Was somewhere between -10/-15 here last night with a fall of snow as the temps came up a tad.

I hear of friends that still get it but with the vaccine being widely available and Paxlovid treatment options it’s pretty well under control from what I can see. I see very few people wearing masks (I do only if I go to the doctor’s office) whom, I assume, are people with compromised immune symptoms.

I’ve seen very few cases down here in South Florida the past month or two. I suspect the virus will lay low into summer, but who knows, a new variant can pop up any time.
My wife and I have still not had it even once, we’ve been very careful, but have loosened up of late
