I know that many of you know Bryce as the “Chief Motivational Officer” and main administrator on the ActiveMelody forum. Bryce has been instrumental in keeping the forum a safe and positive environment, always offering inspiration and motivation to those who post.
He is now starting a new venture known as “Guitar Journeys”. Bryce will become a YouTuber and will periodically share his videos from a “student’s” perspective. I think this will be a great compliment to all of the guitar instructor videos there are out there. I’ll be sharing his videos on the blog here as well.
In this first video, Bryce discusses a really fun / simple double-stop lick that can be heard on many of the recordings of “Sweet Home Chicago”. Bryce shows how to play the lick and then demonstrates it over a blues MP3 backing track, which you can download for free below.
In order to download the MP3 jam track for FREE, you need to be logged in with either a Free Account or a Premium Account. Click here to log in, or if you’re not already a member and would like to join, click here to sign up.
Let’s wish Bryce well on his journey into the exciting, and often harsh waters of YouTube!
Awesome Bryce. Very impressed. Thank you for sharing your journey. Next episode is one that I will be looking forward to with great anticipation.
I am glad you liked it Jon. I am currently working on the next one. I am trying to get it done by the end of next month if not sooner.
This is wonderful
I am new member and feel like a kid in a chocolate factory
The track is much appreciated
I soloed to it over second octave box 1 and 2 minor penta occasionally using notes 2 and b6 (extending penta to natural minor — Brian did it in lesson 155) and occasionally, switching over to major penta notes same key
Minor major worked really nice with the track
Thanks Behrouz! Happy Picking!
Hi Bryce. Thanks man. Im brand new here. What key is the backing track in?
It’s in the key of E
Bryce , great introductory to double stops.. for the longest time I never knew what the term playing 3rds 4ths 5ths (5th is basically a double stop bar chord) and 6ths were until after learning triads and basic guitar theory..I practice double stops melodically up and dpwn the fret board as well as octaves and the cage system in all seven keys sharps and flats! diminished chords too all strings up and down..tonight I’m practicing 1625 jazz progressions thanks for sharing and tia, john
Hey Bryce,
This is awesome and a very cool concept.
I look forward to you sharing your guitar journeys!
ActiveMelody lessons and the forum community are just such a positive force– not only in learning the guitar but also as a catalyst, energizing and cultivating the hidden talents each person has to express.
Bravo Bryce!
Cheers, Debra
Thanks for the kind words Debra! I love having you as a part of our community!
Much needed blog! So great to see someone else trying to learn this stuff too! Subscribed.
Keep it up…and thanks. Your spirit is casual, kind gentle, and informative, like Brian’s. It’s a pleasure to learn from both of you.
