In this guitar lesson, you’ll learn how to play a George Harrison inspired solo that’s played with a slide in standard tuning. I’ll be playing this one without a pick – using my thumb and index finger on my right hand. I’ll also show you the scales that are used so that you can improvise your own slide leads in standard tuning.

Brian, A slide lesson great.Slide has always been on the list of to dos one day. I will definitely be getting to this and George Harrison is a bit of a surprise too, also with standard tuning as well. Hope you will expand on slide in the future there is so much to learn. Thanks John Strat

Bravo Brian! I’ll have to try slide,, I found one and have somewhere sized for my fat finger..(haven’t played it much ,, think I put it on my ring or pinky..but like the tremlo bar ,,i rarely play slide..this will be a fun challenge but more importantly,, a great lesson , ty much!

before prob trying to fret the note too hard like you say.
George is definately underrated way down peoples list even here in oxford England where he lived in henley. Give me a melodic solo with feeling over technique any day.

I have enjoyed your EP026 in the past and really do like that delta blues slide sound, so this new slide lesson is perfect for me. I can listen to Landreth, Cooder, and Truck for hours on end without getting bored. So enough said, back to the lesson. Cheers, Rip

I just made a bottleneck slide in the garage last week and have been messing around with it! I’ve been a slide fan for a while and love the sound of EP026. I wanted to learn slide but thought I should work on the basics first. Well I guess its time! So glad this is in standard tuning to get started. Tom

Thanks Brian. I have been wanting to get started on some slide, so I’ve been working on this for a couple days. Now, by watching and listening it\’s gone well. , but when I watch and try following the TAB, i get confused. There are places you slide into a note and then pick the note (ie, measure 2 with the 6th fret) and then others where you only slide in, but no pick. I don’t know notation, so I don’t know if something there identifies these . Or is it just when playing that ” if it sounds good, it is good” – some get picked not picked because of flow and sound (another example is the last measure, #17 where you individually pick the two 9th frets vs the tab indicating them to be picked together). Rhythm is another of my weak points, so maybe I’m missing something in the count requirement. Thanks.

Hey Brian! I’ve wanted a Gretsch for a long time, and after seeing this lesson, my cravings increased to the point where I could no longer resist. I’m now the happy, happy owner of the Gretsch Electromatic 5435T, which is the single cutaway version osimilar to what you’re playing, in the beautiful gold metalflake like yours! It’s a different sound, and it nails the George tone dead-on! I’m working on this, and also,forcing myself to go fingerstyle, something which I have never put any effort into. BTW, I also have a Blues Jr., got it a few years ago, and it’s a nice little tube amp for very little money.
I almost forgot about trying this! Today right now getting started! You played this so awesome!! I am going to watch and learn ty!
Brian, help please! Love all your lessons, in particular this one. I play along with the jam track but it seems to end arbitrarily, in mid stride, as it were. I’m playing along with the jam track in public. How do you suggest I bring the track to a proper ending?

FYI, I wrote to you about the lack of a persistent login on my PC, Android phone, and old iPad. I exchanged a few emails with a very lippy tech support who essentially said it was my fault. My recommendation to you is to hire someone else. Maybe someone who knows how to code.
