Hi folks , my submission for this month, I went with Am , Dm , G , E
And used a drum track as backing .
I then played rhythm with chord embellishments and fill licks.
Look forward to listening to everyone’s ideas on this progression. -

I like the groove you established with the bass line. And the fill licks are pretty and well executed. Bravo! 👏

Hi Martin, that is a fantastic rhythm track! Great feel, and I like the way you turned the G and E into, essentially, a turn-around. Great creativity and lots of fun!

Very good listening Martin and always a pleasure to hear you guitar, you have such a positive fingering style, I think mostly you play acoustic or am I mixing you up with someone else. Anyway a fine piece and I enjoyed it a lot.

Martin,
This is lovely. This really accentuates your soft touch and spectactular taste. I wanna hear this all day. Maybe I will! -

this another inspiring idea from this challenge Martin: using a drum backing track and then mixing of rythm and lead in one take, you did brilliantly, congrats!
If I wasn't making mistakes I wouldn't be the kind of player I want to be. Perfection is dangerous.
It's all about taking risks, sometimes you get to some place, sometimes you get to a different place. (Brian May) -

I like that driving rhythm with these tasty embellishments and lead lines. These Am hammer ons made the piece sound haunting.
Mixing rhythm and lead is my favourite style of playing.
Well done, Martin.

Another very tasty offering Martin, the hammer-ons structured the piece perfectly and you stuck to the stated chords throughout. I thought that it could be used in many different genres (perhaps not reggae) but to me it sounded as if it would be a good fit for Irish-type folk music.

Love the groove, Martin! It got me tapping my foot right off the first note, nice idea to add backing track for a great full sound. That hammer-on is one of the best licks on guitar, love it! 🙂

Great result and solution to the chord progression we were given. Making use of the Am chord in open position and its uses for hammer-ons etc to carry the groove. Really catchy and spot on arrangement, congrats Martin.

Take 4 chords, add a few embellishments and fill licks and create wonderful music. But that only works if you are creative, know how to go about it and have the necessary groove! But, Michael, you’ve got it all!
So we can listen to your wonderful music!Take the chance to meet your AM friends on Zoom
This time we are going to have a 600th AM Lesson Celebration Meetup on December 21, 2024For more information click here
I look forward to meet you.

That was some cool playing here Martin. I thought for a moment you had a guitar track in the background and then realised you were conjuring the whole piece from the one guitar. It’s been an insight to see how different people have approached this challenge and that country twist was brilliant.

Great piece Martin, very nice alternating chords, riffs and transitions, not easy with this minor, major chord sequence and your rendering is very pleasant.

Excellent Martin! You provided a captivating experience from your first to the last note. Your embellishments, licks, and touch were masterful, and the rhythm and drum track so catchy. A nice thing about being part of your fan base is that your playing is inventive and enjoyable but never predictable! Cheers, Tom

Really liked how you kept in the pocket with the drum track couldn’t fault it and a nice composition that rolled along with the listening.

You developed a really nice groove, Martin. The little pull-off lick at 40 sec really caught my ear.
