Joe replied in my Grand Funk Railroad post in which I mentioned Bloodrock(DOA). It appears that we were both listening to that album like crazy. For him it was 1972, for me 1971. So we kept talking and found out we were born on the same date 15/09/71 me and Joe 72. So for our coming birthday, we decide to do a collab. Joe proposed American woman from The Guess Who.
We knew we had big shoes to fill, but I think we did something pretty decent. I am sure my Canadian compadre will remember this great classic song.

As one of your Canadian compadres I certainly know this one. Nice collaboration guys. Andre, what did you use for your fuzz tone? 71 and 72, you guys are just youngsters! Best wishes, stay forever young.

Great song! I listened for the first time to this song, like many others I guess, thanks to the Lenny Kravitz’s excellent cover, but, man, the original Canadian version… is the original! And you both did justice to The Guess Who masterpiece, with great rocking guitars parts from both of you and very nice vocals from Joe! Enjoyed it very much!

I’m not sure where André thought I was born in ’72…it was more like ’57!
Here’s a link to Randy Bachman explaining how they came up with the song which I found very interesting. It started when he broke a string at a gig!
Thanks André for putting it all together so well!

Oh wow, that sounded (and looked) great! That tone, the vocals, the backdrop etc etc – so much talent here at Active Melody 🙂
I am far from being a Canadian compadre but I did listen to The Guess Who when I was young and most of their hits are very familiar to me including this one. In fact, I have been working on the “Undun” this month, crazy!

Smashing collab guys that really cooks.
I was not aware that this song was a cover I’ve only ever heard the Kravitz one which I thought he wrote.
Same with the Guess Who so it looks like I’ll be adding these guys to my playlist.
Hopefully we will hear more from you guys.
Liam.

Fantastic work from both you guys 👏👏 Same birthday 😲 – it’s extraordinary the synchronous links we have in our, relatively small, AM Forum community – as someone once said: It’s a small world after all 😂. Excellent collaboration 👍🎶😎
