Hello my fellow AMers,
great challenge idea. So much less hassle with preparing and video editing and a great reflection on myself as a player. C
You can tell, I needed some time to get into the groove and fizzled out at the end, but I decided to keep the video as it is. My initial reaction was to do it again, but that would have been against the rules. So here’s the Jazz, beginning to end.
Thanks for watching. I’ll be watching yours now 😉

You played some interesting motifs there Trem, which were worthy of further development. Bravo to you for taking on a variety of difficult bends which were so crucial when they’re so dominant.

Nice job with all the slides, bends, hammer-ons, pull-offs, etc. It was really very enjoyable to listen to and I could see you following your ear as you explored. And showing your amp and pedals config was a nice added touch. Good job. By the way, I used to love playing Stratego in my youth.

Kevin, really nice job on your first time through the track. I heard some great bends and a beautiful pre-bend, wish that had occured to me.

Good submission, played with clarity and a good tone. The melodies fitted well into the backing track, which I felt was a quite a hard one to follow, even though it was quite slow. I thought your phrasing was impressive, too.

Great variety of licks and techniques, Kevin! Love your vibrato! This was a perfect take and submission, being hassle free means we all should do that more often 😉

Good to see and hear you at the challenges, Kevin. No need to do it again in my opinion. You show what you have lot of repertoire in your playing to came up with such a varied improvisation in your First Take performance. You did great!
Take the chance to meet your AM friends on Zoom
The next Meetup will be in spring 2025There will be a detailed announcement here in the forum a few weeks before.
I look forward to meet you.

Hi Kevin, I think I saw you relax over the first minute or two. It made me realise how tense the camera/mic can make me – and I don’t know – maybe you. Anyhow I think you did relax and as you progressed you found what it was you wanted to say. I realise as I write that it’s a cliche. But I think because you didn’t do a 2nd take and erase any of your experiments, it became more authentic and a response true to the idea of the challenge. Well played.

Great bends around the 2.20 minutes-mark, Kevin, especially that “downward” bend – liked that.
Overall great variety in you playing and tasteful phrasing.
Well done! 👍🏽Bluesige Grüße

Lots of great ideas here and plenty I could steal (borrow?) so well played Tremelow. It makes me feel good to see familiar names still here.

Wow, Tremelow, the most prominent reflection in your video is that you’re an imaginative player. You play many cool ideas. Your bends are also attention grabbing as they express the blues feel really well. I also like your suggestion that “first-take” challenge posts can be a lower hassle way to learn (depending on your purpose). 👏🏻👏🏻 Cheers, Tom
