Hi all. Since I spend so much time studying guitar with the help of YouTube videos I’m seriously considering getting a Vidami YouTube looper pedal. For those of you that have got one, either the wired- or bluetooth ‘Blue’ version, how is it working out for you?
I did a search on the forum, saw a lot of positive comments and a few negatives. Have the negatives been resolved? I’m on a Mac running macOS Ventura latest version and use the Safari browser. Many thanks for any feedback, positive and/or negative.

Interesting. I guess nobody’s using their Vidami anymore then? OK by me, I need the money for a guitar upgrade.

I had to look it up. I had never heard of it. Sounds very useful for you. Unfortunately, I can’t be of help since I have never tried one. I have my hands full with the three or four lesson sites I visit and a growing list of songs to learn. I do watch a YouTube video lesson now and then but usually because I’m investigating something that I have found intriguing. To me, the Vidami doesn’t look so expensive that it’s not worth a try. If you don’t like it, there’s always eBay to try recover some of the money.

Hi Mark,
I just bought an Airstep Play pedal from Xsonic. I wanted the Vidami but was put off by the price. In CAD dollars 335 for Vidami and 150 for the Airstep. I just checked Amazon for the us prices and they are 230 vs 100 dollars.
Airstep works fine for me on Youtube videos and Truefire. At the present time it does not work with ActiveMelody site but will with youtube videos of the site. I have contacted the company and they are working on it and said not to worry LOL. They say it is compatible with Android, iOS, Mac and PC. I have tested PC and Ipad and works for me.
It uses the Chrome extension like Vidami does. People seem to get hung up about using only Safari on ios but Chrome works fine on my Ipad for this, after all its just a browser.
It is seems to have a very sturdy build. They make other pedals so make sure you are looking at the right one. https://xsonicaudio.com/pages/airstepplay -

I forgot to mention that the link in my previous reply gives links for the chrome extensions to try without actually buying the pedal.

I use my Vidami every day. Love it. I don’l use the loop features all that much, for whatever reason. I mainly use it to play, stop, step back, step forward and, most imporant, adjust the speed. Recommended.

Excellent, thanks guys! I’ll put it back on my birthday wishlist. If it does what I think it does it would shrink my learning workflow.
I spent an hour today slicing and dicing a YouTube vid into clips. Clips are great but once you’ve learned and memorized something you don’t often need to revisit them. If you do need to go over something again it would be more efficient to just dive back into it dynamically than to find a saved clip.

The Airstep Play works with AM now. You can download the chrome extensions for it and try it out for free without the pedal to see it you like it first. Even if I didn’t buy the pedal I consider the extensions superior to youtube controls.

Hi all,
I was thinking of getting a Vidami Blue to use with an iPad.
However they are no longer available the UK, but I could get one to Germany.
I was wondering what were people’s experience with one and why it was considered not worth marketing them in the UK.
Barry
All the best.

Hi Barry, if you are not stuck on the Vadami I still recommend the airstep above. Looks they sell it in the UK.
I have one and works fine once you figure things out.

I realize this is old post but figured I would chime in with my two cents.
I had the Vidami Blue and sold it as it did not do much for me. I have since picked up a used Vidami wired version
It basically stays in the box. Works as advertised and on paper sounds like useful tool but I find that with any piece that I really want to learn I am downloading it, importing it into my DAW or Song Surgeon and using the relevant software’s speed and/or looping controls. -

I just bought a Vidami pedal to use it with my iPad Pro (M4). The setup instructions that came with it are not very useful. They basically tell you to download the Vidami extension for safari from the App Store and that’s it. If you just do that the Vidami pedal does not work with the embedded videos in the lessons for premium members. You have to enable Vimeo, YouTube, and YouTube-No cookie in the permissions from the extension in Settings. Also, you have to turn off the Request Desktop Websites setting. All this information is very important otherwise the pedal won’t work properly. I found all this in this YouTube video which surprisingly was made by Vidami. I don’t know why they don’t include this guide with the product because all these steps are crucial for the pedal to work with the iPad. Here is the link to the video:
Just posting here in case in helps someone.

It’s an interesting concept and device. For me, I just use the YOUTUBE “Clip” feature. I think I have about a hundred saved at this date. The time limit is 60 seconds, enough for verses and licks and the speed can be adjusted accordingly. For me it comes down to simplicity and time saving.
For longer content I will use RECORD IT on my iPad Pro and screensave the video into my iOS Photos. There I can crop and edit the video if I wish and what’s really cool is when I play back the mp4 video it automatically repeats in the default settings. But quite honestly, the YOUTUBE CLIP feature just by itself gives me so much practice time, I couldn’t be happier.
