In this guitar lesson, I’ll show you how to play a Peter Green inspired rock blues in the key of A. This is really intended for electric guitar (but feel free to jump in if you’ve only got an acoustic). I’m using a Fulltone OCD pedal for overdrive on this one.

Bringing week was the lesson a bit late but this time it will early on a Saturday morning. I knew it to Brian’s work ethic is such: he wants to do everything as best as possible. Speaking of Peter Green - it was a clean hit. Best wishes from me Brian.

By a happy accident I started to have ago at this with my guitar left in Drop D tuning form the last time I played and discovered that you can get a great bass-ey call and response groove going by alternating the main riff with barring the bottom 3 strings and sliding from 5>7.

I was thinking it is more like ‘Stranglehold’ by Ted Nuggent.
To me, this sounds a lot like *Spirit In The Sky* (1969-70) by Norman Greenbaum ??
That was also in the Key of A and iirc he used a Tele and Overdrive.

Question on the rhythm. After the palmed down stroke on the open A you play up on the 7th after that due you mute the down stroke of the open A and 7th or not? I watched the video several times and can’t quit nail it down.

Thank you for the note. I am still working to get that rhythm ground in, practiced again until I had cramps in my hand. I am not up to full speed but am getting a pretty good groove going. I am really enjoying the lessons, finally got calluses on my fingers again.

GREAT LESSONS BUT PLEASE EXPLAIN RE EPO44 IE PETER GREEN. WHERE YOU SAY THE LESSON IS A MINOR PENTATONIC BUT YOU PLAY FOR INSTANCE AN F SHARP ON SECOND STRING SEVENTH FRET.IS THAT NOT AN A MAJOR PENTATONIC NOTE?

Best thing about these lessons is that they keep me grounded. I can play most of the screaming solos but then come to a rhythm section like this and I struggle….good stuff.
