Why don’t you mention that this is an extension of the Carl Perkins lesson? Can you comment on the difference between the lessons in terms of key, or any other interesting theory?
Brian says
Carl, it does have a little rockabilly feel to it I suppose, and you’re right - similar to the 2nd part of the Carl Perkins lesson. good catch :) The difference is Carl Perkins lesson is in G, and this is in E
sena g says
Hey, why is the second (Part 2) or third window inaccessible (black)? Thanks :-)
Brian says
Hey sena - try clearing your browser cache and reloading the page.
sena g says
Hello,
I have tried to do as you said in both Firefox and Microsoft Explorer, but could not. All parts are visible if they go via youtube - otherwise not. Wondering if anyone else has similar problems (Part 2, Part 3 is unavailable) Thanks in advance

A great lesson, Brian! What a gift it is to be able to learn this valuable information from a gifted teacher and guitarist. This piece capitalizes perfectly on the guitar’s versatility, in being able to play rhythm, lead and bass, and using all those tools to complement one another. I think that’s super cool. A nice way to jam with yourself - yes, and lots of room to get creative and improvise. But in my opinion, a very impressive performance piece all in itself. It is the kind of tune and arrangement that will make people feel good and get into the beat. I had fun making up an intro and an ending - mostly by just coming up with some variations on the great licks and ideas that are taught in the lesson. Actually, I have never had this much fun playing an acoustic guitar!

Now everything is as it should again. Thanks Brian

Brian..Really love your lessns ..You make it easy for an old retired guitar guy to learn..
Just one question….Do you think it may be possible to print the chord names above the chords in the tabs ?? I would like to be able to relate the chords to the tab configurations…Just a thought .
Bluesman5364 says
Good thought by JLB as at my level I suppose I don’t always visual see on the tab what chord is played.
Brian one other question: how long do your video posting stay on line as I am just new to your site and starting to look at and study. Can they be saved if I wanted to do so? Lastly, if I don’t see the reference # do you have a “search mode” as I don’t see one? Thank you
Brian says
@ JLB - yes I’m starting to add those now - will eventually add it to all old lessons. Thanks for the reminder
@Bluesman5364 - These videos stay up forever - I don’t take them down. I don’t currently have a search mode but I’m working on it
Bluesman5364 says
Thanks Brian for the reply. Appreciated.

Brian,
Thank you so much for your abiliity to bring wondrful guitar music to the people who have the desire to play blues guitar without all the hassle and inconvenience of locating an expensive music teacher who may not be able to play/teach the style of blues I am looking for.

Brian, here is an abbreviated version of what I commented back in 2014 when I first heard and studied this piece: “A great lesson, Brian! What a gift it is to be able to learn this valuable information from a gifted teacher and guitarist. This piece capitalizes perfectly on the guitar’s versatility, in being able to play rhythm, lead and bass, and using all those tools to complement one another… I had fun making up an intro and an ending – mostly by just coming up with some variations on the great licks and ideas that are taught in the lesson; Actually, I have never had this much fun playing an acoustic guitar!”
Now that I have revisited this lesson some 3 years later, I just want to say (although you would definitely deny it), you are a dang genius! I am a far more accomplished guitarist now – although I still have eons to go – but you are huge reason for my significant development as a player and musician. I have never received better value on a modest investment of money, and you deserve all the success that has come your way, and more!
Brian says
Thank you Alfred, you made my day 🙂
